exciniscineris 32 Posted June 25, 2012 Also' date=' does anyone know if the bandit heartbeat thing is working properly? What is the minimum distance required, if any? Also, does this mechanic work even on name tag disabled servers?[/quote']I can confirm that the heartbeat mechanic is working and that the distance is somewhere between about 5 and 10 meters. Also, I think it's really cool, cheers rocket! :)Wow only 5-10 meters? Cool feature but i don't think I will ever get to get to use that lol.
inforis 3 Posted June 25, 2012 All these performance enhancements! My game will run smooth like butter after this patch.
patluk@sasktel.net 1 Posted June 25, 2012 * [FIXED] Use of "allMissionObjects" causing performance issue on clients (new engine command "entities" used to improve FPS on clients)I fucking love seeing performance improvement patch notes. Yum yum framerates. Not that you need some kind of pat on the back, but GOOD WERK SOLJUR!! Testing Notes 12/06/25 - Got murdered in Kozlovka so had to respawn. Sneaking through elektro, lost some zombies in an apartment building. Heard shooting, saw survivor on the other side of the wall I was against. Zombies broke his legs and he ran out of ammo. Watched him get eaten alive. Gave him some words of encouragement through directchat and snuck away as he was screaming. I like the no weapon on spawn! That would have gone so differently if I had a mak.- Stood on top of elektro firehouse with no weapon just watching about 3 or 4 survivors milling about weaponless. Funny to watch. Even funnier to yell down tips and hints. Zombies climbed after me, so I managed to descend the firehouse by sliding akwardly down smaller parts of the building you cannot normally stand on. Again, not something I'd take the time to see if I had a starter mak.- Ran into group of survivors that asked me if I was friendly. Last thing I heard was "we can't hear you" before being executed. Looked down at my headset volume controls - mic was muted. Remember those hints I was yelling? Yeah....- At this point everyone on the server died. Hacking still seems to be an ish. - Respawned again, ran to cherno to loot. Getting pretty proficient at losing zombies in towns - just use any indoor place with two entrances. However, picked up some zeds at Balota. Could not shake them in the trees no matter what. I seem to remember losing a few in the bushes by crouching at the right time. Couldn't get it to work. Not starting with a mak makes you pretty good at losing zeds in towns.- Found a survivor who "could not hear me" because he was in teamspeak? I don't understand how you can't hear someone because you are in another chat. When I play with my friends over voip, I can still hear people in the game. Server-wide teamspeak seems like kind of a bummer to me. Maybe it shouldn't be allowed advertisement in the global chat (Example: Welcome to US ##, join TS ip.ip.ip.ip). Removal of side-chat happened for a reason!- I see no reason why matches shouldn't spawn as often as knives or hatchets. It should be junk loot, really. Turk (DayZ) 82 Posted June 25, 2012 Only one suggestion from me: make alternative ways to light a fire' date=' because finding matches is almost impossible...[/quote']I hope your kidding, i don't think I've ever not had matches within 2 hours of playing. He's right finding matches is a bitch yesterday i was searching for at least 6 hoursOn Saturday I literally looted every single apartment, church, and general store from Elektro to Vybor and not found matches. I eventually died due to a zombie knocking me out through a wall because I had low enough blood and couldn't cook the full inventory of meat I had. Matches...the giver of life.I guess you're just unfortunate. I could give you a package since i got two packages lol :)I'd have thought 'Road Flares' would "start" a fire quite well......Seems an obvious easy addition. Matches are still going to be preferable due to them not taking up a slot and more importantly not alerting anyone to your presence so are a considerable upgrade. On the subject of fires:- Having to use a hatchet to gather wood is a little silly to say the least. If you are in the woods/forest that should be all that is required. And i'd like to be able to catch & gut an animal if i only have a hunting knife. But capturing them considering they move now (maybe run in the future) some form of trapping may be viable 1st.When for eg 1 has had a hunting knife, matches & hatchet yet no gun & needed to eat then been able walk upto a pig and do nothing... *shrugs*.Similarly with wells & lakes - you should be able to take a drink. and :) lastly I'd have thought an old whiskey bottle (with an imaginary bundle of grass stuffed in the neck) would hold water..... maybe make it so it takes up 2 slots? quickshot101 0 Posted June 25, 2012 Suggestion: Fill a whiskey bottle at a gas barrel and combine it with clothing to get a Molotov Cocktail? :DCould you imagine if there was forest fire in this game :o Them 40+ player servers would be warzones lol. Not sure if anyone has played Soldier of Fortune 2 but they had a very good flame nade. It did 'meh' damage and had a very small radius but worked really well for blocking doorways/hallways for a small (5-10sec) period. Letting you run/hide/gather ammo, or whatever. It was also used to funnel mobs down certain paths. Would love to see something like that here :)
boomnet@blueyonder.co.uk 17 Posted June 25, 2012 Had much fun with the new patch this weekend. Definitely more difficult' date=' but enjoyable. Some Suggestions:Starting Weapons- While I agree that the lack of a starting weapon can make for a more exciting game, I think right now it encourages frustration and banditry more. The players are so vulnerable at spawn, it seems to create a lot more "false starts" (Games that end after the first zombie/bandit attack).A Makarov with 6 clips is too much, but a Makarov with 1 clip would allow a player at least a chance to defend themselves against a single attack by bandit or zombie; and maybe make those sadistic players hanging around the beaches ready to pop those who spawn defenselessy think twice.- Randomized Spawn LootRight now everyone starts the same items, but what if each player started with something different. Maybe one character starts with some baked beans and another starts with a morphine. Assuming these players aren't sadistic murderers, I think this opens the door for more cooperation. Just a thought. Thanks for the hard work, look forward to playing more in the future.[/quote']I think this would only exuberate the PvP problem as it would introduce a solid reason for PvP among newly spawned players. Shoot you for a extra clip? Shoot you if there was a chance you started with some random item that I might not have.It think it would only lead to newbie farming. MrQueebs 0 Posted June 25, 2012 Zombie spawns seem weird. By a miracle I actually found a makharov and killed a couple of zombies, but that brought what looked to be 15 out of the woodwork and I was trapped and stuck in a bandaging animation to boot, so I died. Still it looked like suddenly there were more zombies attacking me than there were in town, or at least that the makharov's report carried farther.
kieran.thorpe88@gmail.com 12 Posted June 25, 2012 The zombies respond fine. I can provide you PLENTY of evidence they dont, getting better like ive said befoe but they DO NOT respond fine, maybe youve only spent time around the big cities *shrug* but you can't get around the small towns its impossible. zombies come from miles still you can crouch to loot or they all come running, walking in a building is futile as they hear/see through the walls.... Still it looked like suddenly there were more zombies attacking me than there were in town, or at least that the makharov's report carried farther.[/quote']Agreed ^^^ I posted this back on Page 68 (would have posted to Dev Heaven forum but for some reason it wouldnt come up yesterday..)Seems like Zed spawing is still off. Me and 2 friends raided Gorka and Dubrovka. Dubrovka was fine... got some zed aggro in Long Wood barn...shot them and then about 10 more came to check out the noise. Then all was clear for us to check out log barn and stable. That seemed right...But Gorka...we snuck into Stable with no aggro. Zeds spawned in while there. Went into log barn and shot two zed in barn... about 10 buddies came to check out the noise...fine. Went to the thrid Big two floor barn and shot two zed.... then about 20-30 zed came to check out noise... we looted the bodies and one zed outside aggro... 20-30 MORE zed came in. Then we went outside and zed had respawned again...20-30 MORE zed. Jezze... finally we snuck down to big Log barn just across the street. Killed two zed in barn.... 20-30 MORE zed came... as we left 20-30 more zed came... this was in the span of 10 min or less we were there. 10 Min... 150 zed killed, low ammo, very little reward as spawns were spawning a lot of cans and bottles.Seems some towns the spawn rate is good...and others its just fucking insane!!! I mean really... Gorka was a bit much.
