MODS, I beg you!

First, I Know theres a lot going on, and the forums are busy.

 

But could you PLEASE do something about the 8000000 'KoS', 'it's too dark' and the several other repeat topics?  Its nearly impossible for those who are actively trying to participate in the forum to sift through all the crap.

Trust me, they are working hard on it. The amount of new posts and members this place has seen lately is surreal, and pretty great. :)

How about you try manage a LIFE, 3000 users visiting daily, the hundreds of reports and lack of a good search function.

 

If people actually bothered to add to threads rather than make their own this would not be a problem.....

I've been a mod for a large forum before (no, not this large) and I understand its difficult.

 

That said, I'm seeing VERY few locked threads, and a metric ton of repeats that arn't being stopped.

As for your last point, I fully agree, however, the only way some people can learn this is to have their thread locked, and told to move it to the appropriate, and already existing thread.

To avoid a flame war, I can read. Just interpret your post in a different way.

 

I also have modded and agree with you there.

I agree there are many unlocked threads, but to be fair the community are pretty good at self policing

Many topics have been repeated, even before the SA, unfortunately this always happens, I think the search function needs re-done. But as we both know, it's busy atm

All be it true, but again the community are pretty good at re-directing, advising members :)

 

Just stick at it and hopefully the situation  improves :)

I wish i could agree on the community taking it into their own hands... however, look at the amount of KoS topics on the first page. Currently 3 with the letters KoS in the title (im sure more are on the same topic)  and the reads and replies are growing rapidly in each.

 

I get that people want to be heard.. but they also need to learn that reading what others wrote, may mean you don't have to say anything at all.

I am not saying you weren't a MOD before, but you should know or have learned in your days of being a MOD, that being to heavy handed in locking threads results in a backlash from the community. There's a fine line you have to tread, between policing the forums and enforcing the rules.

 

Yes, there's a number of repeat threads, but the MODS have done a pretty good job in locking a few and merging others. You will find that or I have seen a lot of the repeat threads disappear into the background pretty quickly and the others, have grown, made good points and have got slightly different discussions going. How do you lock one and not the other. Also, if you merge them, the discussions either were having would be lost in confusion.

 

Beside, if they truly get out of hand, they get locked.

Obviously you were not looking at the forums a few days ago. I have locked countless topics. I'll add another one to my list right now ;)
