Cities will drag you down to the mid-30s like they do for everyone else, but you'll 40+ better everywhere else.

No, I doubt it very much, look at my post above to see the recommended specs.

In Elektro? Dire. More than likely borderline unplayable. The rest of the map would be more or less okay, but the cities would not be fun.

You are lacking ram (if 2,) upgrade required.

Just about for the rest but do not expect tweaking to help you improve the situation.

Not recommended.

Overclocking your CPU will help, but that should run Medium to High settings at a very playable framerate.

I don't think Xfire or SLI are supported yet, so expect one GPU to be near idle and the other at 100%.

Hi been playing the game for quite a while now, never tried this tho!

Laptop

Resolution: 1600x900

i5-3230M 2.6Ghz

Nvidia NVS 5200m

RAM: 4gb

I have been playing the game at about 35fps open ground 20 in cities.

If I upgrade my RAM would it run at about 30 in cities? 8GB or 16GB

Will future optimizations help fps get higher?

Hi Dayz players,

I would like to know which of these two notebooks will run the game better/ more fluently:

Number 1:

Laptop
Monitor resolution: on 2nd screen: 1280 * 1024 (original 1920 * 1080)
CPU: i5 4200M @ 2,5 Ghz
Graphics card: nVidia Geforce Gt740m @ 2Gb VRAM
RAM: 8GB
SSD? (Yes/No) No

Number 2:
Laptop
Monitor resolution: on 2nd screen: 1280 * 1024 (original 1200 * 800)
CPU: i7 3520M @ 2,9 Ghz
Graphics card: intel HD 4000 @ 1Gb VRAM
RAM: 8GB
SSD? (Yes/No) No

I know that an intel HD will never be as good as the nvidia, but i heard that the difference between i5 and i7 might be huge and that the i7 with the intel HD and 8GB RAM is sometimes really good.

I think you need to find out which cpu you have, so please just visit one of these two links:

(Why? --> as far as I know, DayZ needs a pretty good CPU, because of all the environment + loot + zombies which all must be processed by it)

Windows 7 (almost the exact same as XP and Vista):

http://serato.com/scratchlive/support/6691/how-to-find-out-your-computer-specifications

Windows 8:

http://www.picohelp.com/978/how-to-check-computer-system-specifications-windows-8.html

SSD is a special kind of hard drive.

So I bought DayZ here recently.

I have a Windows XP SP3 desktop that runs pretty good, it just needs to be formatted. It runs applications pretty well. Do you think if I added like a GB of RAM to it, would it run DayZ smoothly? Everything is updated on the computer except it has its decent GFX card, and like 650 MB ram.

You have a much lower screen resolution. He was looking to play in 1600x1200.

I can't say for sure without knowing the specs, but as it's an XP era machine with <1Gb RAM I'm going to have to say no, you probably will not run the game at a playable level on that system.

To run the game smoothly you should make sure that you're above the minimum requirements, preferably as close to (or above) the recommended specs as possible.

  • Minimum:
    • OS: Windows Vista SP2 or Windows 7 SP1
    • Processor: Intel Dual-Core 2.4 GHz or AMD Dual-Core Athlon 2.5 GHz
    • Memory: 2 GB RAM
    • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT or AMD Radeon HD 3830 or Intel HD Graphics 4000 with 512 MB VRAM
    • DirectX: Version 9.0c
    • Hard Drive: 10 GB available space
    • Sound Card: DirectX®-compatible
  • Recommended:
    • OS: Windows 7 SP1
    • Processor: Intel Core i5-2300 or AMD Phenom II X4 940 or better
    • Memory: 4 GB RAM
    • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 or AMD Radeon HD 7750 with 1 GB VRAM or better
    • DirectX: Version 9.0c
    • Hard Drive: 14 GB available space
    • Sound Card: DirectX®-compatible

Hey guys.

So, due to extenuating circumstances i will be aquiring a lap-top. I would like to be able to run DayZ SA in medium settings with solid FPS being a priority.

At the moment the two fore-runners are the:

Acer Aspire V3-772G-9656, i7-4702MQ 2.2 GHz, 8 GB DDR3L, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760M (2GB)

or the

MSI GE70, Core i7 Sharkbay 4700QM 3.4Ghz,8GB DDR3,  nVidia GeForce GTX 765 2GB.

The MSI is significantly more expensive than the Acer (~$800 more) yet the stats are roughly the same (except the GPU)

So my questions are:

1. What sort of settings will I be able to run DayZ SA on with either and what sort of FPS would I be looking at?

2. In terms of DayZ SA is it actually worth spending more on the MSI?

I am a simple man, all i want is to have a comfortable, immersive and aesthetically pleasing DayZ gaming experience, I am not too concerned with running it on High/Ultra

Will be very greatfull for any help.

arma 2, 3, dayz, SA all heavily rely on the CPU

that 2.2 ghz will not really play well.

the 3.4 ghz with better 765 graphics card will play 10x better

actually quite well even.

Consider the bare minimum requirements as per the dev's is 2.4 ghz!

So 2.2ghz laptop will chug chug
