terminal_boy 860 Posted January 12, 2014 The shocking thing is that your laptop might actually play the game better than your desktop...Dual core CPUs just aren't up to the load that the RV engine will try to put on them.

Dramiel 3 Posted January 12, 2014 You will get min 40 FPS on cities average 90 FPS with settings on Medium/High Huh...something can't be right then, because the minimum fps I get period is around 18 and the maximum I've seen is about 40-50 in the forest, dropping down to 20 - 30 avg in cities... Maybe it's my motherboard or cpu then? My mobo is old I think, ASUS M5A96 R2.0, my CPU is at default clocks of 3.4ghz Anyone with maybe similar specs have some advisory for settings? slayer42 11 Posted January 12, 2014 Back in October 2012, I ran DayZ mod on the following specs: Intel Pentium G620, 2.60GHz x 2.4GB (2 x 2gb) Corsair Value Select 1033MHz RAMGeForce 9500GT 1024mb1440x900 I got around 25 FPS on minimum settings... it was unbareable. Now I have the following spec i5-2500k @ 3.8GHz - 4 coreMSI Radeon 7870 OC edition 2048mb8gb (2 x 4gb) G.Skill RAM 1333MHz1440x900. I get now around 50-60 FPS everywhere on SA. Currently not been back on mod for a few months, so I wouldnt know my FPS on that.

Which settings for fluid gameplay? you will have max settings for the most part...capping 20-25 fps in cities and prob no higher than 50fps peaks in the wilderness your cpu speed could stand to be over 4ghz...significant fps increases but you have a low resolution which is helpful for fps. i would spend $50 on the antec 620 cooler and overclock that slut to 4.5 ghz and laugh Edited January 13, 2014 by deebz1234

Should I go for that instead? If you can also afford an aftermarket cooler and are running it on a decent motherboard then definitely. You can get up to around the 4-4.2Ghz mark (depending on your chip) with the stock cooler, but if you're overclocking an i5 I'd recommend aiming for around the 4.4-4.5Ghz mark to get the most bang for your buck. :) Edited January 13, 2014 by Mos1ey
deebz1234 243 Posted January 13, 2014 What motherboard? if its a half decent asus or gigabyte or something more techy then you will love what you can do with the unlocked chips. i recommend the antec 620 because it out performs its older brother the 920 and about everything else on the market that is more expensive. ive been running one for 3 years now without fail..i got my $ 60 worth. (they are cheaper now)
