Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

Recommended Posts

Yeah I really do need to upgrade, I've been told that I would need a new motherboard if I was to upgrade my pc, is that true or not? I'm not very knowledgeable on PC building you may have guessed.

To get a CPU capable of running DayZ, you'll need a new motherboard. Almost every generation of CPU uses a different Socket type. Assuming your motherboard was made around the time that the Athlon series came out, then you'll definitely need an upgrade. Considering all this, you'll almost need an entire system upgrade, and if you don't have a lot of PC knowledge, I'd recommend just buying a new PC.

However, I'm not stupid. I understand that a whole new system for one game sounds like overkill, and I can agree. However a new system can go a very long way other than just allowing you to play one game.

I don't recommend, that is up to you to find out what suites you best.

I just found the perfect settings, just disable the Anti Aliasing, Vsync and Postprocess and put the rest on Very High.

hey guys i am equipping myself with a new rig as i am rigless at the moment due to moving and a new job..

but this is what i am getting…  how would DAYZ SA manage? i know DAYZ SA isn't optimised and still in alpha stage but its still nice to gauge…  i had the exact same rig 5 months back just with a gtx 780 for arma 2 and it performed far better then i had expected..

i7 3770k to 4.4ghz - over-clocked

ssd 128 gig corsair gs

R9-290x - strictly because of mantle and new tech and its cheaper then a gtx 780 in my country

8ghz corsair vengeance pro 2133mhz ram

windows 8.1 - over windows 7 vomit..

Hey everyone,

I didn't know where else to put this. Sorry if it is in the wrong place.

So,  I know I can run the game already semi-decently  As I was about to go buy some new hardware for my PC it occurred to me that I wasn't sure what I should really be upgrading first, as far as better framerate in DayZ was concerned (maybe record if I could). I have heard it's fairly processor intensive, etc. Anyways, I'll put my current specs, and what I was looking at. Any advise would be much appreciated.

Current Specs:

OS: Windows 7 SP1
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
Memory: 4 GB RAM DDR3 1333
Graphics: Nvidia Geforce 9800GT
DirectX: DirectX version 11
Hard Drive: 1TB (700 GB available)
Sound Card: DirectX®-compatible
Motherboard: Asus P5G4IT-M LX PLUS

What I was considering:

Processor: AMD FX 8350 4GHz AM3+
Memory: As budget allows for now
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 or similar
DirectX: Version 11 ( I assume)
Hard Drive: Maybe upgrade to SSD?
Sound Card: DirectX®-compatible
Motherboard: M5A97 R2.0 Socket AM3+ ATX AMD Motherboard

Thanks everyone.

I owned an FX8350 for when Arma 3 came out and sadly my i5 750 performed better then it when it came to being in the cities by 5fps in arma 2 and dayz mod..  If you could i would recommend you to avoid using the 8350 if u wanna strictly upgrade for arma 2, 3 and DAYZ SA.

unless rocket and the boys optimise the game which bohemia failed to do with all their other titles..

sounds like a laptop?

not enough ghz...

thats really not a "really good" rig.

Gfx processor is holding you back, also 3.4 ghz is not a lot for DayZ SA

will love SA

your CPU and clock speed will be great!

no bottlenecks on that system, expect as high as possible fps.

id stay away from amd if possible...here is my system and i get amazing fps. you can buy my systemf or less than $500 and its good for future upgrades

gigabyte ud3r x58

i7 930 - 4.25 ghz

antec khuler 620 ($50 watercooler, used to overclock very simply from 2.8-4.25 ghz = massive fps increase)

evga gtx 570

murders SA

So in your case i would do this:

i5 2600k, or the i7 3770k

gtx 570

research motherboard $ vs performance and future upgrades Asus or gigabyte mid range is fine

antec khuler 620 (dont bother with the other manuf or the 920, the 620 outperforms them all)

and overclock to 4.5+ ghz (google how with cpu/mobo, very simple these days)

a gtx 570 is plenty, shit even my work pc has a gtx 460 and can play fine.

but the kicker i the processor. need over 4 ghz to play SA
