I know it is alpha, so its not that pressing, but hey, if it can be done, I would like to do it. Thanks guys Edited December 23, 2013 by xtinc7ion

Spiiral 0 Posted December 23, 2013 Hi. I'm thinking of upgrading to a better lap. This is the one I have in mind - http://shop.lenovo.com/gb/en/laptops/ideapad/y-series/y510p/?sb=:00000037:00001CBD: I would have the none SLi version and I would upgrade the HDD. Has anyone played the standalone on this laptop or know how high settings I could use?
Kipale 78 Posted December 23, 2013 Huge waste of money, are you sure you need another laptop? I mean you could just buy decent rig and use old laptop if you really need laptop...
Spiiral 0 Posted December 23, 2013 I'm currently running an Acer Aspire 8930g, C2D 2.0, 4GB RAM 9600m GT. This wont run DayZ at the moment. I really do need the portability but I would only get the laptop if I could play in high settings and it would be future proof for the next few years. I wont be upgrading for a couple of months yet so I'll still be doing some research and shopping around.

doser 0 Posted December 23, 2013 (edited) It will run but very badly. I have a Core2Quad Q8400 (2.8Ghz) and a Radeon 6950 2GB I get like 10-15fps or something. I had to reduce my resolution and it's still pretty unplayable in towns. / I have no idea why the renderer is so bad It's like it is drawing the entire island each frame Why is the View Distance option missing in Options / Thank god i'm building a new PC next week. I feel sorry for 90% of the world though, who will get about 5FPS and can't play Day Z. Edited December 23, 2013 by doser

Tegla (DayZ) 112 Posted December 23, 2013 Is this a notebook? Well, the processor's frequency is very low, even clocking it should have no visible improvements sadly.

beardedcap 22 Posted December 23, 2013 (edited) How well will this run dayz standalone? Will it be playable? http://pcpartpicker.com/user/DevinMullins52/saved/3c6Intel Core i3-2120 3.3GHz Dual-Core Gigabyte GA-H61M-S1 Micro ATX LGA1155 PNY Optima 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 Seagate Barracuda 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Sapphire Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition 1GB Rosewill Galaxy-02 ATX Mid Tower Cooler Master 500W ATX12V It will probably run, but probably will get like 15 fps in cities. I'd go with an i5, you can get a 3350p for a few extra bucks and it will make a huge difference. Also for the video card you should look at a 270x or 280x. They are newer versions of he 7xxx series, but they are cheaper and have higher clock speeds. Also I personally don't like how cramped micro atx motherboards are. Unless you're going for a small case, but a mid tower will house a full sized motherboard. This is personal taste of course. You should really shell out more on RAM, it's not something you want to skimp on, I'd get 2x3gb or 2x4gb. 4GB is kind of low in this day and age, especially because Dayz will hog a lot. Get a 600w power supply at least too. Edited December 23, 2013 by beardedcap

mountainhorse 0 Posted December 24, 2013 (edited) Can I run it? Well, I checked the site thusly named, and it said everything met the recommended settings except for the processor and GPU. They are as follows: CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 640 Processor GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series The CPU has the same processor speed as the recommended Phenom II x4 (3.0 quad-core) And the GPU has the same RAM (1GB) and pixel/vertex shaders as the recommended GPU (5.0) My question is will these slight shortcomings make an appreciable difference while playing the game? What settings could I expect to run it on smoothly? Thanks. Edited December 24, 2013 by mountainhorse
