With the right cooling it should handle this clockrate easy. Don't be scared. I've never destroyed a AMD with overclocking. You've got almost the same system as I got. These settings should give you a big boost. If you don't know where to find this variables read the rest of this topic.Thank you very much for your reply.I've been on Toms Hardware and he suggested for me to get a Hyper 212 and a GTX 660 TIThis is what I'm going to go for, but I'll take your configs and put them into mine and see how I role. At the moment I'm hitting like 57degrees on my cpu, is that normal?
Wh1spY 110 Posted December 29, 2013 Q9550 is not a dualcore, it's a quadcore, hence the "Q" in the name. It's an old proccessor but does the job well enough tbh. It's still equal to even some i7's out there despite being a 6-7 year old cpu lolhttp://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core2+Quad+Q9550+%40+2.83GHz&id=1049 Q9550 is a Quad Core, not DualCore. I had a little boost on fps; I get 25-30 in cities now, which is a little bit bearable. Wilderness 50-65. I have yet to try with the affinity and see if it makes better or worse. ThanksLol my bad, just googled it quick and read to fast. Guess the Core 2 just got my attention since I have owned a Core 2 Duo processor.. :P
RosscoMac 75 Posted December 30, 2013 If you're rocking nVidia SLI then you MUST check out this guide on Reddit. Boosted my FPS by 75+%! As of right now there is no SLI profile for the Dayz exe. It will likely be added on the next driver update, or maybe the one after depending on where they are in the driver dev cycle. But until then, follow the instructions posted in the link below. http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/1ta9ry/how_to_enable_nvidia_sli_in_standalone/ Thanks for this! Made such a difference. :D
-zEr0- 2 Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) I have tried many different graphic Settings so far but there is only one that offers good Performance as well as a nice looking game at the same time for me. Resolution: 100% (1920x1080)vsync: OffVideo Memory: autotexture Detail: hightexture filtering: highobjects: very low (Scene complexity: 100000)Terrain: low (terraingrid=25)clouds: very high (doesn't eat a lot of Performance for me)shadows: normal (I don't see a huge difference compared to high or very high)antialiasing: normalATC: all trees + grass (for me the game Looks horrible without it although it causes a slight Input lag)edge smoothing: disabled (postprocessing = cpu)HDR Quality: very low (HDR presicion=8, can be set to 0 in cnfg file but surfaces don't appear shiny any more. Haven't noticed a huge Performance gain when turned off completely)ambient occlusion: disabledpostprocessing: disabled (CPU)mousesmoothing=0gpu_maxframesahead=1gpu_detectedframesahead=0 (haven't noticed a huge difference compared to 1)viewdistance: 1600preferedobjectviewdistance: 1600shadowZDistance: 100 added the usual Startup Parameters to steam and installed the game onto an SSD. djporternz 644 Posted January 1, 2014 NOTE: Searched through this topic but couldn't find any references, so will post this. Apologies if it duplicates any other post. I found that the biggest difference in my framerate came from the FoV setting. I.e. the difference between widest and lowest FoV was a doubling in my FPS. I had wondered about this since my FPS would jump up real high when scoped in (as displayed by Bandicam FPS overlay). I've found that 1PP vs. 3PP also affects FPS with 1PP being 2~3 FPS quicker (doesn't have to render Player is my guess). With the 'Normal' profile (ex. rendering set to 1440x900) and 1PP and smalest FoV, I am getting ~60 FPS in the wilds, and around 30~35 FPS in the large towns. nicolasvei (DayZ) 9 Posted January 2, 2014 (edited) Gained about only 3,4,5 FPS... I don't know if I did it alright. My PC is : Intel Pentium ULV. 1.80 GHZ 8GB mem , x64 graphic card is : Intel® HD Graphic WIN 8 Processor : Intel Pentium CPU 2177U 1.80 GHZ Well I use Very Low settings, all disabled, and 100% res. I have around 10-15 FPS , and since I did all in the list, i get up to 17,18, 19 max. I edited CFG files correctly. And I put : maxMem=2047 -maxVRAM=1023 -cpuCount=2 -exThreads=3 on launch props. Am I wrong on something? I know nothing about computers :D Edited January 2, 2014 by nicolasvei

nicolasvei (DayZ) 9 Posted January 2, 2014 (edited) I just tried it. It barely change something. Was at +/- 15 FPS and still it is. I tried the boost which the topic suggest, no changes. What am I gonna do :( At least, the game is not laggy for me, I can run it fine at very low and 100% resolution. Not that bad. OrLoK 16182 Posted January 2, 2014 Hello there Try using the Armarize or Playwith Six launchers, they make these extensions a simple case of ticking boxes. Be aware that PWS has ads built in now though. Rgds LoK

What socket is it? i.e 775, 1155, 1156, 2011.... etcThat's the biggest bottle neck you have. You need to be rocking at least 3GHz i3 to get something half decent out of DayZ imho.

colinm9991 196 Posted January 6, 2014 (edited) I haven't read all pages, but as far as I did read I was surprised that nobody mentioned Unparking Cores, I'm also surprised that absolutely nobody has mentioned the following parameter-malloc=which gave me a good FPS increase in ArmA 2 when swapping allocators. reidman 0 Posted January 6, 2014 I had to register to reply to this post, thank you so much man, I was struggling to stay above 20 fps in cities but now I average 30 and outside of cities I have a drastic improvment going anywhere from 40 to 70 fps, I never thought this old rig would be able to do that so thank you! Crawflex 3 Posted January 9, 2014 I edited the values in the cfg about object/shadow distance and have been noticing alot of pop in, especially on the distant trees near the fog. Can anyone tell me the default values of the commandline that manipulates that?
ZomboWTF 527 Posted January 9, 2014 in the old arma 2 wiki it says that valid values for exThreads are only 1, 3, 5 or 7, which sets a maximum of 3 external threads on ON of OFF 1 = 001 3 = 011 etc., i think most people know bytecode by today for better understanding, look here: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma2:_Startup_Parameters#exThreads by this table, setting it to 4 would leave you without file operations in an external thread, which can lead to no peformance boost at all or even errors so, if you have a quadcore even without hyperthreading, i'd recommend you guys to set it to 7
