More games coming out like DayZ

Recommended Posts

Yea dayz was always in open even before they knew it was going to be it's own game. But people are right setting releases dates that are not kept are just  frustrating people. What should have been done was Rocket saying "okay guys we are now working on dayz, from scratch release date Q2-Q3 2014 for alpha"

he then should have released some footage of finished and good looking content every now and again to build hype. As it approaches the release date people would be hyped up for the game

Don't buy it then.  Simple.

They added in 400 items because they have a team working on the thing.  They don't have one guy doing everything, they have a couple guys doing modeling (items) a couple guys doing animations, couple guys doing programming, couple guys doing the map, ect.  Some things are easier to do than others.  Making a new road flare model is probably easier than configuring a building so that zombies don't run through walls, so the guy doing the item gets done before the guy doing the building.

It's not about my decision to buy the game but rather the overall quality on dayz. While I agree with you that somethings take longer then others, it has been a year now in development, and the zombies still aren't done. Either they didn't focus to much on it........or they focused on it and not much progression is seen.

Also ill just leave this here for you

In my opinion, they should've kept it secret. No game has ever profited from going public before full development. Ubisoft is the best example. If they hadn't gone public with yet to release games, they would've been better off. Instead, they released news about new upcoming games, and then they postponed the release like crazy, infuriating people.

I posted things like this quite a lot of times, but I really really think Dean's team lacks a LOT of economics/marketing insight.

Don't go public at all about development, or if you went public, deliver - fast.

Yep I think it's the best policy. Make a game and then a few months or less before you're ready to launch, start advertising. What's the point of talking about it before hand and then having delays.

BIS should have worked faster too. This is obviously a money maker and should have taken precedence over other projects? Or hire in more help. I get the feeling it's rocket and 3 coders plus a couple or artists lol.

Yes however they are all different in their own ways. DayZ has its own survival aspects to it just like those other games do. However I do think it is hurting their market keeping it for so long, other people arent so patient and will go to another game if they must wait to long.

Hello there

The devs are not deliberately hiding it away, it simply isnt ready for release at the moment and is a long way off a "final" version.

It will be released when its ready whether some folk have moved on or not.

iv said this before, the window to make it as massively succssfull as the mod is closing fast. ATM there isn't anything that rivals it, but that's just a matter or time. Eventually a game will arrive with a good blend and challenge it. I think its success is largely down to how impressive the arma 2 engine was.....highly moddable....awesome map.....nice range of weps/veh.

I do have to agree that from the streams it dosent seem like a hell of a lot has been done, given the time they have had. But I do understand that most of the work has been engine based....things you wouldn't "see" ingame, but help general performance.

All that said, im very happy to hear that they are trying to "lock the version".....well he nearly said it...before he bit his tounge :P As I said I don't think any of the current crop of games can rival it, and as long as its not another year then I see it being the daddy for a long time still. Bring on SA! :)
