medic bloke off the forums

Recommended Posts

Right now i'm listening to his internal monologue externalised via teamspeak, mindless drivel and dreary bullshit has been filling the air between us for 10 dreadful minutes now, so I decide to award myself a well earned breather.

'how far are you?' I interrupt 'exactly?' the silence that follows is beautiful and has a real tangible substance to it no doubt provided by his obvious confusion and psychological disarray

'uh, eh, wha....' he murmurs all anxious and lost 'how far what?'

Christ, he truly is a halfwit....

20 ploddingly mundane minutes later I've logged back in on cherno docks, my world is completely devoid of any colour thanks to both my characters lack of blood and my comms companions lack of anything you'd reasonably describe as a personality, he's wielding his anti-personality like a huge fun absorbing sponge sucking the energy and enjoyment out of everything.

To say the least I am impatient to get this done.

'OK, I need to get off, just blood me then I need to log' I say, it is important to note that I was only considering killing him at this point.

'I thought we were gonna try and fix up the ural' he whined and thus he made my mind up for me,

'nah, you have it, now quick, do my blood' I think my hitherto repressed anger is beginning to shape my words which is no bad thing

'ok ok i'm doing it'

game - 'blood transfusion completed successfully'

me - 'lovely job, thanks for that'

him - 'no problem, sure you don't want to help me get the ural going?'

me - 'I can think of nothing i'd like less'

him - 'whats your problem dude I just ran 9 km to blood you and you.....blah blah blah...'

In game i switched to my lee enfield, raised it and hovered the end of the barrel over his characters face

'...blah doing a favour blah blah blah...'

 'BANG!!!'

and in that wonderful brief moment half an hour of boredom and disdain and impatience, all until now corked at high pressure in the name of survival, were suddenly unleashed upon a wave of pure win.

the rage that he bombarded me with after that was so special, so sweet, so full of shock and disbelief and fury and pain and disappointment and tears that I just cant bring myself to share it, not with you, not with anyone, it was 5 or 6 seconds of pure distilled unadulterated anguish sent from a tortured soul as if from the very depths of hells fiery pits of eternal suffering and it was still building to a climax when I kicked him off teamspeak.

and while he sat staring at the death screen I said lustily into direct chat 'that - felt - sooo - damned - goooooood' followed by loud raucous laughter, mine and my 4 friends who were watching and waiting for me to get done so we could go to the pub.

it was to the echoes of that terrible cacophonic laughter that our friend, the medic finally DC'd

good job you killed a guy that risked all of his gear and an hour of his time to run cross map to you to HELP you with no reward for himself except the satisfaction of helping someone

Careful posting your opinion if it's negative. That's cause for a ban these days.

Plus I don't think our dear friend cares very much. His type thrive on the negative reactions of others in the community. Hopefully standalone will curb this type of behavior by not allowing for people to so easily find things to murder each other with. The plain fact is that Arma 2 was designed for people killing each other, not exactly the vision rocket had for DayZ. If it doesn't, god help us all.

yeah, i think the issue is that in SA there are a lot of great ideas to reduce Kos but the issue is It is a part of our community now and has become something that was not intentioned for in the first place not wanted and like COD lots of people enjoy it.

I understand the ban thing but I feel like I am speaking for alot of people when I post negatively about Banditry.

I wish I could be that terrible of a person.(sarcasm)

You know you didn't have to wait for that guy and put up with him?  If he was that annoying why did you even bother waiting for him?

I always read LHE's stories as if I was an anti kill on sight survivor HQ dweller and from those guys perspective he must be the absolute nightmare antithesis of what they 'hope' bandits will be like.

For that reason and the fact that I admire his writing style I love reading his stories :beans:

I think it's interesting how you chose the title of this thread and I actually thought you managed to betray someone.

But you didn't. You chose a title that will attract as many people as possible (even I fell for it, even though I know that your stories usually bore me.)

But not only do you say "Medic off the forums" and then never mention it again - I also highly doubt that it was an actual medic and not someone you backstabbed while playing with them. Your story makes that clear by pointing out how he has behaving towards you, as he was planning on playing with you and repair a Ural.

No normal medic would really think about that before even finishing up.

And the way you have been behaving towards that guy - it's pretty much textbook asshole behavior that would cause the medics that went through our training to log off even before getting to you.

Try again. Oh, wait - actually. Don't.

I don't really like this kind of betrayal in DayZ, but I have a passion for banditry and I think he's just doing what he's meant to do. Can't you read the sign? It says "Bandit Campfire". Some kinds of bandits are imoral and some are not, you need to understand this. I know that this kind of thing bothers you, but think well; in our world now, the real friends are only a few. Imagine how would it be in a zombie pandemy... Worse than it already is in DayZ

been there, seen that, got shot at.

this is actually a typical story from the medic training book. a situation every medic should count in. to avoid it, dont go solo. have control over the area. place one or two snipers on overwatch, who are ready to neutralize the patient if he chooses to betray you. and of course, as kichi stated - dont heal people who are dicks from the start :)

i read better stories from you, LHE, but thanks anyway for posting this prime example as a warning to all aspiring medics.

also, if a patient turns on you - dont rage. its unprofessional.

edit: also - most medics i know heal people no matter if they're heroes or bandits. most bandits i met have in turn the honor to respect the neutrality of the medic. i acknowledge the fact that as a chosen murderer and sociopath, you do not follow such concepts or have any regard for them - but the carebear in me cannot condone such deeds, so no beans for your story this time.
