[SA] Types of Sights

Recommended Posts

Put a list of any sights you'd like to see in standalone such as:

-Holographic Sight (1x)

-PSO-1 Sight (4x)

-IRNV Sight (1x)

-KOBRA Sight

-Reflex Sight (RDS)

-Coyote Sight (RDS)

-PKA-S Sight (1x)

-CCO Sight (1x)

-M145 Sight (3.4x)

Etc....

This can be any sight of any kind, shape, functionality, country, whatever.

When SA get's here and there are only a few types of sights, I think the modular weapon building will get boring very quick.

This can be put forth to give player more options and to keep the modular weapon building more unique.

How about pink tiger stripe or polka dots? If you get bored by the available attachments you shouldnt play any type of game because you will always be disappointed.

Iron sights. Maybe some 3x to 9x scopes for civilian huntig rifles. think Remington 700 or CZ 550. AUTHENTICITY. Your fancy holo sight will run out of batteries pretty quick anyways. or get broken. or both.

Seriously, let's not over do the weapons aspect of this game. Most guns you'll (hopefully) find will be some Lee enfield, M1 Gerand, Remington 700 & 870 and handgun style weapons.

The modular weapon building is not meant to be "fun." It's meant to be functional. I don't see how you can get bored with a system that allows you to enhance your weapon by attaching a bayonet, or a flashlight, or a scope, or a new stock, ect. It's not like you're going to spend a lot of time thinking about your weapon attachments. It's gonna be like "Oh shit, I just found a scope for my mosin nagant!" Then you attach the scope. Then you forget about it and continue playing the game, with your scoped mosin nagant. The variety really isn't that important because it's the difference in functionality that matters.

I want to put a scope/sight on a handgun.

Also i agree 100% with what you're saying.

I mean

What

Chances are im going to use only one type of sight if available for my weaponry.

Lets be honest, this isnt cod or battlefield where your adderall runs out and you need to change something before you explode. No, stop. I have used EOTech sights for every NATO/West weapon I have used in Arma 2/OA/ACE, its simply my sight of choice. I do not need a hueduedue triple expert quickscope magnification red dot skull candy reticule. No, its about FUNCTION not FUN or INTEREST. When I assemble a weapon in the SA its meant for one thing, FUNCTION. Yeah, there should be a few choices, realistically theres going to be tons of choices of ammunition and parts, but 10+? Wasted resources.

What I am getting at is, BF4 and COD have tons of choices because their players are ODing on adderall and need to change their items every 5 seconds.

Also another problem with tons of parts for 500000 different platforms is compatibility.  Don't get me wrong I don't want everyone walking around with automatic AKs or AR variants, but I dont want to have a reciever for every single weapon you could think of, and keep getting AK barrels, or vice versa.

Lets hope they use some prudence, 4-5 different sets of components are good, along with different sub sets inside of those sets such as barrel length, stocks, ect ect

But 50 different sights? Please no.

I just want the types of sites you'd expect to find in a small, stereotypical former Soviet satellite... your average communist optics, hunting scopes and iron sights. Any Western weapons should only have their standard issue optics. Unlike in ArmA 3 you should not be able to swap optics in seconds, somehow perfectly calibrated them for the new gun, or even attach them at all unless the gun is set up for that mounting system.

Alot of sights actually can be swapped out in a small period of time. You shouldnt be able to just grab your iron sight rig, rip it off, throw on an RDS in a second, but if you have the rigs, the screws and the parts you should be able to do this in a very small amount of time, as long as you aren't doing it behind a tree under fire, thats just unrealistic unless you are just sliding it on a specialized mount.

Even then it shouldn't be zeroed since they usually zero a sight to a specific weapon under normal circumstances.

You guys are missing the point. This game would be boring with only a few types of sights. And I never said it should be fun, it just shouldn't be like "Oh look, another Holo sight. That'll be the 6th on this session :|  " And just because I listed a few sights I'd like to see in SA makes this game turn into CoD/BF3-4? No, it doesn't. All these close-minded responses surprise me.

I do not foresee finding six holosights in one play session. Your argument assumes that these things would not be super duper rare and therefore a complete treat when you do find one. I think you're forgetting to take into account the global item economy, which means there could literally only be 100 holosights in the entire game...

-snip-

Variety is important for the same reason it's important for both civilian and military-level equipment/weapons to be lootable. I agree with you that it should not be a core to the game, and that there shouldn't be a staggeringly hugenormous list of available weapons attachments, but there should be scopes of different levels of magnification and different reticles. Not just for realism, but that adds more difficulty to the game and more reward to players who brave the perils of higher level loot areas.

If I had to choose between a PSO or Russian Delta-style scope and an American mil-dot scope, I'd take the mildot every time. But because both are available (presumably), I won't run into the woods with my sniper rifle as soon as I have a PSO; I'll continue running around the city, meeting survivors and collecting loot, as I look for a better scope.

There should also be a diversification in flashlight attachments; there's a huge difference between ducktaping a DD flashlight to the side of your gun and getting a search-and-rescue emergency maglite with a red film over the front to protect your night vision.

There should be a diversification in bayonets; not all knives are the same.

Et cetera.

So yes, there should be a variety. It shouldn't be to a staggering degree, but there does-absolutely does-need to be considerable.

I want that dual scope from Arma 3.

"That dual scope"

...which one? There's 3 that have both have magnification/holographic settings, and there's 2 with magnification and iron sights. There's also 3 with NV and thermal...

Sure... Because we all have a readily available source of these things.

I wouldn't mind putting one on my gun either. But if they do happen to be in the game, they'd better be uber rare. Like once in a lifetime find rare.

A battery in holographic sights lasts for years at a time of constant use.

I don't see why not, but they need to be really rare. In my opinion, the more attachments for weapons, the better.

They all need to be really really rare, yet have a large pool of types of sights.

There are plenty of different attachments in the SA:

sights, scopes/optics, slings, rails, stocks, bayonets, magazines and, (most likely) some underslung weapons.

I want that one!

Anyways I wanted a similar one to the holo & scope CSAT sight, obviously Arma 3's is in the closing future.

When I think of it I'd also love a few scopes with the iron sights ontop.
