Yeah, that was also when they were just going to package the mod and sell it as-is. It's changed a lot since then, but prudent business practice says that the time for release is within the next 30-40 days. Just give it time. We don't know first hand what kind of things they are dealing with.

Still doesn't mean that he said it. FFS that idea was dumped by rocket 11 months ago when they didn't make the release at the end of 2013 and decided to redo everything.

 

ROCKET has said nothing about release dates since then and never will until the alpha is out, At which point it will be "Alpha is out guys" or something like that.

Okay... video was not serious guys. And to quote the producer of the game -

Side by side, the difference is SO noticable... I go back to the mod on my off hours, and it just feels so very much like watching reruns of TMNT >from the 80s"

 

Just saying. There's no reason to jump to conclusions about a release when we don't know the facts. It may be closer than we think. People just tend fill a void of information with negativity, or too much positivity. I'm just looking at where they seem to be now and making cautious predictions. I'm not going to assume the worst because it doesn't change the state of the alpha, it only changes my state.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Btw, I say we set up a Fight Club/bar trade post in the wrecked ship. Anyone?

This is a magnificent idea, would love if we could find spare parts, tools, and other such things to repair and maintain weapons, clothes, and the likes of that.  I would love to set up shop there as the local technician, repairing and upgrading people's guns... for the price of a few measly beans or bullets.

Great ideas, all around. Am I crazy, or could fist-fighting and knocking each other unconscious actually reduce the amount of lethal violence used in PvP? I think it will. I know I personally would prefer using non-lethal means to subdue a person who might kill me. Mostly, I kill people because I'm afraid of them...

New games are usually exciting but this one has trend into a real bummer it's a shame had a lot if potential I'm afraid to say I think A TON of people moved on and MAYBE grab it in a humble bundle years from now

Lol...I think that an awful lot of people that are old enough to know better are experts at sulking like little children when their unrealistic expectations are not met.

When the SA comes out, as soon as they hear how great it is they will all jump back on the band wagon as if they never said such horrible things about it etc.

 

Of course, it could be a complete turd of a game and then we will all have to listen to their insufferable gloating...So hopefully it will be great.

I can see it now. People posted around the entrance with Mosin Nagants, Patting down patrons, removing their weapons, but keeping their food/ammunition with them. They can bet ammo on fighters, and if they win they get a payout. Losers go home empty handed.

G-guys... There's been a distinct lack of communication from Hicks and Rocket... The player count is VERY slowly rising.. It's probably nothing, though.

 

The player count isn't rising and this week has seen the fewest average testers in the last 2 weeks. Really a boring week so far. Which is fine, but let's not look into something that's not there.

Currently you connect, and the server checks the central server to see if you have a live character. If so, it loads that in and switches control to you. If you don't it makes one and switches control. However, it often takes a few minutes longer than that to load in (the server auth process is lightning fast now). So what I am planning to do, is to have the player be told where their character will load in, preload that spot on the client, and then create the character.

Unfortunately, that requires so revision of our spawning mechanic and we might not get a chance to do that rework of something that effectively "works" before the alpha is out. This is a good example of a known issue that is lower priority than getting the alpha out the door.

If you look at the context, it seems that they already picked a internal date for an alpha release..
