Idea To Reserve Space.

Recommended Posts

Hello. I had a simple idea for reserving space in backpacks. Allow us to disassemble weapons. You can right click on a weapon in your inventory and select "Disassemble" this takes 2 minutes and will free up some space. You'll still have to wait two minutes to re-assemble it, though. And if weapon degradation is added, peraps there's a higher chance of the gun clogging due to dust in your pack, maybe?

Also, I think food needs to be ALOT rarer. Far too easy to survive in DayZ. Finding food should be like winning the lottery.

Perhaps for most weapons a tool-kit would be needed?

I disagree that a tool kit should be needed. Most weapons can be stripped by hand, this is what you do to clean them after all.

I really love this idea!.

Full stops are not needed after an exclamation mark.

I just thought I'd point that out.

Good idea OP, but it's going to take the same amount of space, assembled or disassembled.

eg: lets say an M4 is 8 slots big. That means removing the stock might take 2 slots, barrel takes 2 slots, and then the body will take 4.

I think that you should be able to translate an item in your inventory.

You have an item that is sitting horizontal, but you only have 2 vertical slots, so you can just shift-click on the item you want to put there and voila!

Stop using full stops after exclamation marks!

I like this idea.

Another thing is the ability to fold stocks that can fold (seems obvious).

For example the AKS-74 or AKMS. Both of these weapons have folding stocks.  When not using the weapon, the player should be able to fold the stock for easier storage.  When you draw the weapon for usage, the stock should automatically be deployed because 90% of the time you'll want the extra stability.  But there should be a key or action menu slot to fold the stock even during use if for whatever reason you want it that way.

I think that food should be rarer and starving should take longer.  IRL a person can go without food for a long time.  While I don't suggest starvation takes a week, but increasing the time to starve to one day ingame doesn't seem unreasonable.

Actually disassemling a weapon does reserve space. Say for example you've  got an AK-47 That you want to fit in an ALICE pack. It would be too long, thus, you disassemble it. It'd be easier to log the un but it actually does reserve space.

You can't disassemble an AK like you would with an Armalite. That stuff is bolted, you can remove the stock by removing some screws but would somebody really do that or would they rather have the rifle partially sticking out of the pack?
