If all you mean is aggro a ton of zombies then run into a barricaded building, then go do that. Sort of pointless topic, unless you mean actually implement points/hold E to add planks/buy guns, in which case I'll go sharpen my pitchfork.

The CoD zombies are okay (when it comes to numbers and aggressiveness).

But the insta-fortification thing is a bit.. arcadey - it wouldn't really fit DayZ.

2 game I love both :D

CoD for pvP run around shooting all guys without think, zombie for challenge with friend   ;)

DayZ for pvP run around shooting all guys without think, zombie for challenge with friend   ;)

for me is good idea to make possible hold in building from horde outside make repair and try kill all or make escape

but not like CoD with press E for make wood on window etc, more like dayz with craft nails and woods, no more nail??? no more defend broken window

zombies coming at you in huge numbers and being able to fortify yourself is something that will come to the game i suspect in SA.

as much as your going to get hate for saying "cod" i actually do know what you mean, i think what hes saying is wouldn't dayz be good if it had more fluent zombie mechanics, shooting zombies in cod is rewarding, in dayz its just more of a nuisance.

i do hope that as dayz develops in SA that zombies become one of the main focuses of development, and i hope they manage to sort out the client issue of zombies clipping through player built objects, because being able to lock yourself down in a town would be fun.

so in essence i get what your trying to say (atleast i hope i do).

Never played CoD - i like the fish though.

One thing to remember when comparing zombie numbers is the CoD maps are tiny compared to Chernarus.

one of my mates made a mod for call of duy 4 which had the zombies as the players. once you were infected by a zombie you would join the hunt for the surviving players. great mod and still busy now 5 years on. you can play all different types of zombies with different abilities and even play as a zombie dog in it

last person has to survive against 64 people which is great fun and a real challenge.

Not neccessarily insta fortification, but if you run into one of those small wood cabin house at least the abilty to break down a kitchen table and board up windows with it. Go into first person and hold that shit down,  50+ zombies coming at you (hopefully more), no zombies glitching through walls. Sht zombies even have a 1 and 8 percent to chance to drop a max ammo. I would even be ok with a starting load out with a Winchester and a PDW with a clip. Head shots a one shot kill. Ability to buy s silencer to help you get away from zombies. Throw in a sprint button lol.

A CoD Zombies map where you spawn into Chernarus and the rules of DayZ apply.

No.

Sounds super lame.

There's enough whiny kids playing DayZ as it is.

I wouldn't mind the ability to fortify a building but the zombies should drop no more than they currently do and the fortification should require manually harvesting wood (a la chopping down tree for fire) as well as nails etc for fixing them to the building.

You already get a reward for killing them, THEY ARE NO LONGER TRYING TO EAT YOUR FACE - no need for ammo etc, it's meant to be an authentic survival game, everyone isn't walking around with their pockets full of ammo.

If you want to play Call of Duty Zombies.. why don't you just play CoD?

No it wouldn't work

CoD zombies = fast paced

DayZ = slow paced

they aren't meant for each other

I'll never consider the CoD zombies to be "zombies" and they definitely don't belong here. Getting increasingly stronger and running while eating lead? Not a fan.

You can't even hide from them, from what I know, which is one problem I have. DayZ "zombies" are the ones you can hide from.

Barricading would be fantastic, if the zombies could climb through low windows, weren't glitchy, and more buildings were able to be entered. But that's not really a CoD thing.

This one seems to be pretty unanimous for once:

Fortification             :beans:
CoD Style Zombies    :emptycan:

Have to lol at how hard of a fail my idea was lmao.

Anyway I really like some of the ideas you guys brought up. Thanks for the input everyone.

I probably should have tried top go into more detail in my original post. I guess I really dont mean so much full blown CoD Zombies style, just using it as an example really.  Alot of you guys have some of the same ideas I do.

What about a large amount of zombies like Dead Rising but with running zombies in a DayZ world?

It's not gonna happen man

No doubt I was just trying to redeem myself from the horrible fail of a thread I made.
