I really like the idea of some kind of animal carrying ur message, mainly for the direction it approaches from. That's such a good way to balance the advantage of an attacking player.

 

Obviously pidgions have been well and truly dismissed, but is there not another animal....or something this could be applied to?? its such a great base idea. First thing pops into mind is to deliver the message on a remote control car or something.....hell anything....long as it gives some vague indication of where the bandit is.

 

Radios in standalone sounds great, but maybe make them super rare and make some sort of makeshift message sending the one people rely on most.

One problem is that everyone will encounter...how would an animal or the guy driving the rc car know where to go? Yes dogs have the sense of smell but that has to be trained too and they have to find a trace first and choose the right direction to run, and rain washes it away and dogs can't smell 24/7. You would literally have to find the needle in the haystack unless you know where the player has his base and leave a message there. I'm sure a messenger would die of lead poisoning before he reaches the target, maybe the target himself shoots him and doesn't read the message etc. It's almost like in those days where there were no cellphones...you call and nobody is at home, bad luck. You wanted to call someone on the way, phone booth, no coins, bad luck. If you look back you wonder how we could survive back then :lol:

I'm going to support this, just so I can point over Elektro and yell "CARRIER PIDGEON!", and watch as several lee enfield shots and crossbow bolts fly into the air in an attempt to down the bird.
