Standalone Thoughts and Ideas

Now as many people know the DayZ standalone is coming along very well and i'm sure i'm not the only one excited for its release! 

 

The point of the this forum post is to get your guy's ideas of what you would want to be implemented in the future for the DayZ Standalone (Realistically), not only that, but things that's you have seen that you think can be improved to make the overall game amazing!

 

A few ideas that myself would like to see implemented would be:

  • Those who put the effort into being a "Hero" should be rewarded in someway, such as, A increase in Blood (nothing crazy maybe by 2000 blood, thus equaling 14000) Also i think those who do play as a hero should get a medical symbol put on the back of their clothing (The red cross).
  • Vehicles should be implemented in the standalone (maybe not at launch, but ASAP! They don't have to be all crazy and being able customizing them, that's something a lot of players could wait for i think personally, because vehicles do play a large part of DayZ and i think the regular vehicles from the mod should be put in)
  • When handcuffed or tied up, there should be a option where you can beat the individual, weapon or no weapon (if the player has a weapon they can hurt the player a lot more). Also you should be able to rig player of explosives when they're in this position, causing traps and a lot of crazy encounters!
  • Rope should be a find able item and the player should be able to craft it into a noose, to one kill them self, or to kill other players! (There's also many other things you could do with the rope, like tie the players legs tie them to the back of a car and go full throttle).
  • (This is from a video i saw which is actually a very good idea!) If you meet a player say in Cherno, and you guys later go on your own separate paths, but later on in the future you come across and player and in the bottom chat it would pop up a message saying, "That person looks familiar"! This could lower KoS!
  • Infections and diseases should really fuck your character up in the long run. Example, blurry vision, slower running, lost in balance.
  • with the syringes should be able to collect diseases and can be injected into other players, and the longer the disease is kept in the syringe, the more deadly it becomes, but! If a player is shot in the area where the syringe is it can break and infect them!
  • Bandits overtime should go through some sort of panic or scream, do to the amount of killing they do, (The noise you make when in need of pain killers or in shock in the mod), this causes them to give away their position, and could make people loose the attraction of the bandit life style.
  • Instead of base building, why not just allow players to fortify houses? Let the player take an average Chernarus house and fortify by crafting barriers and setting traps around the building and allow the players to store items once the house has been upgraded to a certain level of protection. (This one seems very unlikely though).

Now those were quite a few ideas there and i think they could really add to the experience of DayZ,  and really gets people thinking of even more creative ideas maybe even better then what i thought mine were! Let me know what you guys think and please give me your ideas and thoughts on things that can be improved!!!

A few of these have been addressed by the devs already.

 

I dont think giving boosts or penalties based on playstyle is the way to go.  If someone wants to be a psychotic bandit then they shouldn't be penalised for it.  As for clothes and symbols for heroes - well i reckon the best clothing for a bandit would be a hero skin.

 

I like the idea of fortifying houses with wood, traps etc and the idea of getting a message that you recognise someone is interesting.

I don't like this hero/bandit thing at al. It worked well for the mod but is too much black and white, simple and gamey. The idea of fortifying houses/structures or predefined areas has been discussed a lot and I really would like to see this getting more improved instead of doing underground base building.The message idea indeed sound s interesting, especially since the devs are using this method  for small status reports (hunger, thirst etc) anyway. Maybe this could be extended further...for example messages saying something about the smell of a place and/or the temperature. (extinguished campfires, burnt wrecks).

No boost or penalties. It will end up with supermarine elite bandits murderers /KoSers killing you from 1km with the supersonic clap of an overpressured bb gun because they are "pro level" in killing.

While shooting might destroy your opponents gear, i see that as new anti KOS method, which increases the actual interaction, negatives such as robbing and stealing, positives as chatting and asking basic questions "have you seen this guy" etc etc.

For this I would prefer a system using idle animations, facial expressions and stuff like blood covered clothes and items, but this could go also hand in hand with this "message" mechanics. But for scouting an area or building it would be cool to get some input representing different special senses ...

you just shoot at people and hope you kill them, whats so hard about that? Dont like that strange guy barking at you in a forgeighn accent? calling you a prawn?

shoot him in the head and he goes away for good.

 

while being a hero you have to talk people down, make them calm. Offer them anything you have. hope they dont decide to mug you for the Lols

 

there alot of negatives to being a hero. so instead of giving heroes boosts

 

just make it easyer to play as one.

 

I really hope in the SA a player who knows how to doctor people will be an "asset" and not KOSed

You even get the hero skin when you hang out with bandits it overrated. Players should show through playing/talking if they mean no harm. It's of course too easy beeing a bandit murderer because you just have to point and shoot. Having to get close to communicate is what makes beeing a hero nice person difficult.

Agreed, The whole system is flawed and is only any use as a rough guide to whether someone might shoot you in the face for no reason. trusting someone just because they have a hero skin is foolish, making it even easier to get the hero skin in the first place would just make it even worse.

 

Quite looking to forward playing the standalone with no humanity system. judge people by their actions and how they react to you.

Hero/Bandit system becomes pointless when there are lots of changeable clothes.

I think they should make it so bandits have a reason to cover their faces.

A face mask should be quick to make from moving a piece of clothing to your headslot.

It protects your in game name/ identity when using chats and when a player is looking right at you from a couple meters away.

If he's vengeful you won't want him knowing who you are.

I got an idea.. alright so an apocalypse scenario we would not have tv or radio. there fore people would us CDs for entertainment. why not add rare cd so people can listen to music while driving or in their bases? hope I am the first to think of this idea it could make the game so much more immersive.
