Pistol Holsters and Rifle Slings

Recommended Posts

Dean at GC said that there will be storage items such as tactical vests that allow you to use items more quickly. So I was thinking that if you have something like a holster for your pistol or a sling for your rifle it should reduce the amount of time it takes to pull out the weapon. Let me know what you guys think about this.

I agree this makes sense.  I wonder how you pull it off.  I have an idea.

Normally to get a weapon you must use the action menu and scroll wheel.    If the item is in your backpack, you must going into your inventory, go into your backpack, take the weapon, and then go through the animation to raise the weapon.  I like how it takes time b/c this is authentic.

But if you have a sling, then maybe a key should be dedicated to unslinging/unholstering.    So if you have a pistol in a holster, instead of having to use the scroll wheel and action menu, you could simply press a key (like "H" or "Y")  and in one quick animation, be ready to fire!  One key for pistols and one key for rifles slung over the shoulder.

There's an option to just switch to prim to secon weapon  , by default I think is "ñ" .  Anyway something just for "good looking" there's a pistol script to holster pistol , I used it on my edited missions and liked it

On this, I think the quick switch type system that is coming in for 1.8 should stay but there should be a "Holster/Sling" button and the button should (un)holster/sling the weapon that is in your hands or was in your hands. This should allow me to do something i have wanted to do for a while, dueling.

How about instead you can add in more holsters and slings for more weapons

I know damn well you can carry two rifles on your back in real life.

I think you should be able to a whole heap, only it continues to restrict and slow your movement.

If it's a tactical swat green beret spec ops holster...yes maybe, it also depends where you have your holster. But even a holster doesn't guarantee a quick draw, it's first purpose is to be able to carry a gun safely. It's like a pair of underpants that prevents your dong from dangling around and falling out...

The amount of gear slung over your shoulder should be visible.  So if someone have many weapons of his/her shoulder it should be easy to see that the person is over encumbered.

I agree.   Most holsters do keep the weapon safer.  Maybe if you have a weapon holstered with will degrade much slower were a weapon laying around or in your hands would become dirty and need cleaning after a while.

If its leather than it might degrade, and you'll lose the holster.

leather is pretty tough.  It would take quite a long time to degrade.   It would cool to be able to find different qualities of items.  Some cheap plastic piece of junk or high quality Russian leather holster

I hope they do add holsters and slings.  Having two holster pistols means you could obviously carry two pistols.  You could hold a silenced one like a m9 sd for killing zombies and beig being stealthy.  Then you could have something like an M1911 to shoot players or animals.

Yeah I like this idea.   You should also be able to find sheathes for knifes and daggers that would be equipped like a pistol.

What if not having a holster or sling meant you have to change weapons the old fashioned way - a.k.a stop, slowly put away first weapon, pull out second weapon. But if you have a holster or a sling, you can switch to that weapon while running or walking, like it is in the SA now.

Seems like a very simple and authentic solution imo. In reality, without a sling you'd have to stick your rifle in your backpack, and it would probably require you to stop for a moment to remove it. A sling on the other hand, well that's right on your side, meaning you can remain mobile and therefore you have a slight tactical advantage. Same goes for a pistol. Have you ever put a gun in your pocket or your belt? It's significantly harder to draw, as the hammer and stuff often catches on your clothes. (also it can be dangerous since many people shoot themselves this way)

Exactly what I had in mind, if 20 different guns over somebody's back is too hard on the optimisation maybe some could show up as what would like something like a tent case with a gun wrapped inside it.

I definately think once you've filled you bags and pockets items should begin hanging off the top of your bag or many slung together with a length of rope.

Maybe something as simple as a length of rope could act as a container with the disadvantages of items being more visible and movement being more restricted.

I was also thinking large things should visibly protrude from backpacks and stuff.

You'd never fit a M14 in a bag without some disassembly so it should instead poke out the top unless you want it over your shoulder.

IRL i wouldn't have to stop to do that although it is better to do so with or without a holster/sling. With a holster/sling you might be able place the weapon in a better position to draw it faster and i don't have to carry a normal rifle around in my backpack if i don't use a secondary primary ( <--- omg what a word ) and don't have a sling, there are various ways to carry it without much fatigue ( of course this will not work that well with a machine gun or .50 sniper which brings us back to the thought if a player really needs to carry a .50 around like he is going to pop car engines all day long. There is no need to discuss damage because blood and hitpoints will be altered in the SA so we don't need that extra firepower for one hit kills.

I would really like to know how you could hold a rifle while having your pistol drawn, and no sling to keep said rifle over your shoulder. Where would you put it? Unless you've got magic 4 foot deep pockets, the backpack (or a sling) is pretty much the only thing that could effectively transport a rifle on your person.

I don't think the Standalone is going to have .50 cal sniper rifles, but if it does, they're going to be extremely rare.

Why shouldn't you be able to hold a rifle in one hand while having a pistol in the other hand? You don't have to carry it in the ready the whole time, just grab it in the middle so it's balanced and keep your hand closed or cradle it in your arm or lean it against or on top of your shoulder are a few examples.

The only thing I can think that wouldn't be good is trying to open doors.

You'll will need a hat , the sun at noon is burning . Please add cowboy hats .

Edit : And of course the main weapon , a revolver .

I guess if you don't have a backpack. Like Norris said, you'd be minus one hand, meaning your pistol would be less accurate, and operating doors, picking up objects, all of that would be twice as difficult with your hands full.

That's what i meant. IRL you would also want to place your rifle on the floor instead of carrying it slung across your back because it's quite obstructing. Just place it on the floor and holster your pistol...it's not like you are going to be jumped by a KoSer 24/7. The only difference is that you need longer to grab it with the scroll menu but hey it's a game.

There is a reason that every time i make a suggestion on weapons that revolvers are on the top of my list, also i have suggested a cowboy hat (Stetson) once or twice. But Duels will be spur of the moment and "Do you think you can reload and fire before i put a hole in your chest" type situations.

And yes i basically stole the line above from the first season of Justified.

I would like a Mexican standoff in Elektro.

I hope if we get a single action that you can do the second hand cocking when hipfiring :D maybe a button for cocking so fast firing can be achieved with practice like IRL.

I also want numerous pistol holster slots available.

Four guns with six bullets each, especially if we get black powder :0
