Hotfix Build 1.7.1.5 Rolling Update

Recommended Posts

Some things I've noticed while been playing with the new hotfix:

- The black "Receiving..." screen sometimes appears during gameplay and doesn't go away unless you quit the game by Ctrl+Alt+Del (has happened to me 3 times already and only today)

- ...

This happened again! I was just playing again on EU12 and after about 15 minutes of playing, I get the black screen with the white text "Receiving..." on it and it doesn't go away until I quit the game. Isn't anyone else having this issue?

I think food spawn rate is alright the way it is or maybe a bit to high. You are almost sure to find at least 1 can of food in any small village/town and on top of that you can kill animals which are also pretty easy to come by if you travel alot.

It has been addressed by being mentioned 1,000,000 times on these forums, and they've tried to fix it in the last half dozen or so patches. Don't you read?

Hey

im sure someone has wrote this but just adding my expierence about the new update

its running much smoother though when the zeds are on the chase and you use a loud weapon,

it lags the game out alot when the horde comes running, also makes you unsure whether your shot landed and it killed them. ie

Shot a zed it walks over hits me and dies.

They still hit you through the walls and walk through and somehow under buildings.

I think the zeds going through the walls is worse from the 1.7.1 update since before you could distance yourself from the wall to avoid but now it doesnt matter as much.

Also they charge at another player they will run through some buildings at times not often but it happens,

Had a fresh spawn today havent had one since the gun was removed i got killed by a door btw :( (knocked me out and zeds feasted on me whilst i bled and couldnt move)

Anyway i like the increase in difficulty and the use of just direct chat though only thing is that i would like to rendevous with some of the players i was with and can't after they get taken out by a bandit/zed so i was thinking if you implement a party option or even friendslist in game just for that session of play and when you logout of DayZ it a whole new fresh list.

I found people a lot more cooperative at the early areas and willing to help since no one has anything, which has helped the game more socially i find.

Happened just before that we saw a guy proneing around cherno apartments and asked if he was friendly, no response, then saw 2 other guys they ask "you guys have guns" i say "no is there any around?" they say "there is a makarov in the northern apartment", i tell them to be on the lookout for a guy who didnt respond he had a CZ550.

They loot the hostpital and i ask if they checked any of the other apartments then the dude asks me if i want a rifle and drops one on the floor and they leave.

I thought awesome thats what this game is truly about helping out people, sharing intel, banditry and sneaking away.

So on that note i just want to say that the game is going in a good direction the balancing of food could be a bit more i cant seem to find any beans anywhere i resorted to sitting in a house with my newly giving Enfield and just shooting so zombies would come hoping they would have some on them, and i dont think being in cherno should result to that.

Also with the no gun its made the place more barren and makes you want to search for help i think the no weapon at spawn is awesome change that shouldnt be taken away.

though i do miss the side chat and being able to socialise a bit in game with random people have a laugh and poke fun and whatever.

Thanks

I think the zombie aggro does actually have them investigate some sounds before going all kill-crazy. I was crawling near one and realised I had one sound bar, the zombie originally had his back to me. He turned around, shuffled toward me and I quietly slipped away sideways. Zed wandered close to where I was, then turned around and went back the way he came...

Was that a coincidence? Or do they now investigate low-level human sounds before aggro'ing?

If you notice my join date and post count, you'll notice I just joined this board, and just started playing DayZ a week ago. I'm not gonna read through every thread and topic on here to see what's been addressed. I was posting on here to let them know that the 1.7.1.5 didn't fix them being able to hit you through walls.

Getting attacked through walls seems much worse for me at the moment, just died due to about 20 zombies spawning inside a barracks with me, attacking me through every wall possible. Then a player head shot me through the window lol.

Don't nerf the damn Zed's. Make them harder. Make them so godamn hard the hardest of the hard say it's too hard. Every supply run should be wrought with danger. Every trip to any city should be a fucking war.

Absolutely, and a new zed that says "Beat me, whip me, call me Nancy."

After playing 1.7.1.5 for several hours I still think the zeds are still too overpowered. They pick up on some of the most ridiculous things, laying prone to their side, they don't even look at you but still "see" you. This needs to be fixed, they are just too omniscient. Zeds just aren't that fun to play with when they spot you so damn easy, why should zombies be so aware when they are fucking dead and all their senses are made of rotted biological material...it's lame.

Also if you pick up a new weapon you stupidly drop damn near everything in your pack: ammo, painkillers, food, and water all dropped as soon as you roll the mouse wheel to "Pick up AKM".

They're not actually dead. So that helps. Think 28 Days/Weeks Later - "Infected" not rotten corpses.

The hearing and sight levels of the zeds in the daytime now feel perfect I think.

Seconded. I was sneaking and crawling around Elektro earlier and it seemed to be just right.

Also have another Idea / Suggestion with the Inventory / Weapon system, you can give it a read and see what you think. This idea will probably help solve or at least circumvent / bandage some of the inventory bugs / issues.

I'm going to throw out 2 - 3 different ideas that would solve the issue in a few different ways, if you like all of them, they all would work fine together as well.

First, now that we have flashlight on the tool belt, we can get rid of the starting backpack, and have players start with no backpack. This change would go well with my suggestions, it would also make Czech Pouches actually worth something as well, and make finding your first backpack a very exciting moment!.

Now I know these suggestion may or may not have been mentioned already by someone else, parts of my suggestions may also be borrowed, but bare with me, they are pretty good, and I think would be pretty cool.

Ok so we all know how damn buggy the inventory system is, and how changing weapons and things around between your inventory & backpack can cause things to be deleted and dropped on the ground, etc, etc, or if you want to equip your melee weapon hatchet from your Tool belt you have to drop your primary weapon or put it in your backpack.

I really like other peoples suggestions on moving said weapons to your Tool belt while you have your Tool belt item out, so if you want to pull out your hatchet for melee it puts your primary weapon on your Tool belt till you switch the hatchet back to the Tool belt, and same thing with the flashlight, it switches your secondary to the Tool belt till you put it back on the Tool belt.

Ways we could accomplish this (as I said earlier, these two / three methods could be used together or separate).

1) Just making it simply what the another poster already said on these forums here somewhere, sorry I forget if it is in this thread or not, but just when you switch to flashlight or hatchet it puts whatever was in that primary / secondary slot previously onto your Tool belt till you switch back.

2) Making your Tool belt different "sizes" depending on not only if your wearing a backpack or not but what backpack your wearing. The numbers would have to be thought on very hard and probably tested / tweaked a bunch till you got it feeling right, but this could be exciting.

Like say you don't have a Backpack because Rocket decides to remove your starting Backpack to make things harder and more interesting, so without a Backpack you have 3 Utility / Tool belt slots, Czech Pouch gives you 1 or 2 more slots, etc, etc, where the biggest backpack the Coyote Backpack being the only one that gives you enough Utility / Tool belt slots to hold every Utility / Tool belt slot item in the game.

Making you have a limited amount of Tool belt slots makes you have to decide which utility items are more important to you, and which ones you don't need till you get a bigger backpack. It may not be right for this game, just a idea though. Instead of having everything all the time once you find it all, it also makes finding a better backpack more of a big deal, it makes better backpacks more than just more "regular" storage space. *shrug*

3) Add two new Utility / Tool belt items to the game. A Sidearm / Secondary Holster, to hold your secondary in your Tool belt when you switch out to the flashlight. and A Primary Weapon Sling, to hold your primary in your Tool belt (on your back) when you switch out to a melee weapon (this would really only work with the crowbar was made a Utility / Tool belt item as well I suppose, prying shit open FTW!)

Let me know what you think?

This could also go hand in hand with possible future additions to the game like making the size of your backpack and the amount of stuff your carrying effect your speed in game, how fast you get hungry / thirsty, and also your noise level.

Love DayZ. Bought Arma specifically for it. The more you update the more I play XD(Can't believe I forgot to make a forum account lol thought I had one). Before DayZ for about 2-3years I searched for a survival game of DayZ's kind. Never found it. Then I found DayZ. (= My friend texted me midday and said check this youtube video out! When I saw it I was in awe and in shock it was a survival game that I've been looking for, for a long time. And it being a zombie game was a great bonus(was never a fan of zombie games, but this surely changed my mind). (= Thanks DayZ.

I haven't experienced this, yet. You sure you didn't move? Also, not zombies, infected; heightened senses, stronger, etc.

Oh come on,i was proning on the ground and didnt move and the Z still saw me through the entire building and attacked me in 1.7.1.5,had this multiple times today and they still attacked through walls.

I tried crouch walking/running at night/day and crawling on the ground at night/day,Zombies everytime noticed me,even when they were like 50m+ away but when i fired the M1911 noone cared.

One of my most memorable experiences in this game was running through elektro with a horde in tow. Turning around to fire a round or two off, only to attract more. Finally run into a building and making my last stand there. Eventually had to "suicide" because I ran out of ammo AND THEY JUST KEPT ON COMING!!!111oneoneone.

Seriously though,

I think if you're playing the game to get uber gear, you're doing it wrong. I find it more fun to see what kind of shit I can stir up with each life. I don't mind the zeds being op. I think that once the kinks get worked out we need to find ways to make them more of a challenge tbh.

Once you get to a certain point gear wise , the game becomes bland. Running through a city is no longer a challenge. The biggest contender once you are geared is other random death bugs and hackers tbh. Even other players aren't that big of an issue if you aren't basically asking to fucking get shot.

Zeds before 1.6 was fine. For now most of players run and disconnect or camp loot spawns, such as baracks, firedopots etc.

I am going to have to agree here. Registered just to whine but it is worth it, as I love this game, been playing it since it was released.

Zeds agro way too easily now, it is at a point to where you just stop being stealthy because their is nothing you can do in most situations now. It is easy to kill them and such and hide away from them going from building to building.

What it is doing for me though, it is ruining the fun game play of stealth. Now it seems like every new life, 70 to 80% of people are just running around just trying to get lucky. This use to not be the case automatically. You use to be able to run through towns with stealth and get what you need in 5 to 10 minutes, 15 at the most for some fun intensity and wild situations.

Now if you want to do that, you have to spend at least 15 to 30 minutes in trying to be stealthy, which you have to take a lot of precaution due to Zed OP view distance and such.

Frankly, I'm not going to waste my free time to loot a small town that use to take 5 minutes most with stealth, now it takes 15 to 20 for nothing most of the time. So in-conclusion, I ruin others game play and mine by just saying 'screw it, going in, nothing i can do here.'

Zombie view distance and sound indicators should be reverted back to v1.6.0, while keeping current attack fixes etc.
