Or

Amd fx-4300 3.8ghz

Geforce 7025+ mobo

8gb ddr3 1333mhz

Ati hd7790

Or

Amd fx-8350 4.0ghz

Gigabyte Ga-970a-d3p mobo

8gb ddr3 1600mhz

Ati hd7790 turbo

first two are the same price the last one is slightly dearer.

Okay this is my first rig so my question is could I run days and arma 3 and how high.

mobo: biowware tz77b 1155

CPU: Intel i5 ivybridge 3.4ghz 3.8 with turbo

gpu: EVGA GTX 650ti BOOST 2gb

power: gigabyte greenmax 550w supply

ram: gskill ripjaw xseries 8gb (2x 4gb sticks)

memory: western digital 500gb HD (black)

with that, can anyone give me some numbers?

You'll hit low 40fps in city, 60fps in forest with that setup. Pretty close to what I have.

mid 30s I guess. You'll prob want to turn most settings to low and put view distance as far as possible. IMO higher view distance is way more important than details.

I wouldn't bother on medium, go for very high, easy.

-snip-

IMO, faster CPU speed, more HDD space, but the first one easily smash DayZ aswell.

-snip-

The last or second last ones will get 30+ on medium to high settings.

-snip-

On DayZ you might get 30 - 40 on high / very high.

ArmA 3 is insanely unoptimized so its hard to say.

One day I was getting a solid 60FPS on high settings, even when recording. The next day I was getting a rough 20FPS on standard quality.

No sorry, the CPU is way too slow for DayZ, I would recommend at least 3.0GHz of speed (Intel) or 3.2 - 3.4GHz (AMD)

I've moved your Topic, no problem.

I'm going to say no, you will not be able to run DayZ on that machine, upgraded with ram or not.

I happen to be using an only slightly better notebook and I used to play DayZ with this for a few weeks (my computer broke), ran it at like 5 - 15 FPS depending on the location and rain at 600x480 resolution or what it was again. Lol.

Dude, is this your, 3rd post in a day? Go and search for a week until you know what you want entirely. Ask on here if you need help.

Anyway, yes, that would run it at 30+ FPS on medium - high settings.

You're being a little vague, I don't quite know what you mean.

Your case came with 3 fans, but your motherboard has 2? The motherboard should only have 1, and thats for the processor. I don't know why you'd need that many anyway, unless you were planning to overclock to 4.8GHz, then you may aswell use liquid cooling.

Hey I was just wondering if it's possible to get a gaming laptop for 1-1.3k that would run dayz on medium-high settings smoothly. I know, that you can get a much better gaming rig for that much, but the thing is I need a laptop anyway because I travel quite a bit and I think I'll be moving, so I would rather get the laptop now and get a good gaming rig when I settle down. I was originally thinking of building a gaming rig for ~1.2k, but then I realized that I would need a whole bunch of other things... Like a keyboard, monitor, new desk to fit it all, operating system software, antivirus and that will make more around the 2k range, plus I still have to get a laptop.

So would the experience be enjoyable on a 1-1.3k gaming laptop? Or would I be best off just saving the money? I might just buy a $400 laptop and take a gaming hiatus (be extra productive) and just resume gaming when I settle down and can get a good rig.

Thoughts? Recommendations? Thanks.

Please don't post stuff like that, there are people here who really want to know if they'll be able to run DayZ or not

If you go for a system like that, and don't even know whether or not it will run DayZ, then you obviously have no clue what you're doing, because that's beyond overkill

$100 over you're limit but imo it'd be worth it. Should run DayZ quite well.

In addition to the 1TB hard drive, it also comes with an SSD. Boot times will be much much faster, and you should still have enough space to install ArmA 2 onto it
