But, my CPU Q9550, is anytime better than i5 and AMD FX series which u mentioned above. Since, it has 12MB cache. Please correct me if im wrong. !

The Q series CPUs are from around 2008 and the ivy bridge i5s from Q2 2012, lol. The i5s are definitely a hell of a lot faster and are pretty much made for overclocking.

Ok, thanks for info abt Ivy bridge. Also, can u guide me on. AMD FX vs i7 ? since AMD FX 8xxx look damm cheap, but has 8cores and 4.4ghz. Is AMD FX good for gaming as an alternative for i7 costly series ?

i7s and FX-8s are just quad-cores with 2 logical cores per physical. It doesn't really benefit you when it comes to gaming, it's more for heavy multitasking or video rendering. It's not really worth going with an i7 unless you're going for the 3770k or better, the others are just i5s with hyperthreading and a hefty price tag. The FX-8 CPUs do actually outperform the FX-6 and FX-4s though, so if you're going AMD it would probably be wise to go with a decent FX-8 series.

 

I'd recommend going with either a decent i5 like the 3570k or 2500k or if you want to save some cash then the best FX-8xxx that you can afford.

Nah, AMD use completely different sockets. I think you'd need a mobo with an AM3 socket for the FX-8s

sorry chap the Q9550 may have been good about 5 years ago but both the FX, and i5 are a hell of a lot better. Go for the i5 3570k best advice

Indeed, I'm running a 3570k and love it! Would recommend it if you've got the cash. If not - an FX-8350 would still serve you well.

nope g41 uses 775 socket your need a 1155 socket

Well, I thought about making a living room visitor PC so my friends from the...ugh...console crew can play with me. Its a pretty simple $500 dollar rig I created just messin' around on Newegg. What kind of FPS am I expecting on what settings?(40 FPS is fine, 30 FPS minimum. I don't need 60.) Here are the specs;

AMD A10 6700 w/ Radeon HD 8670D(between 6670 and 7750) - $150

 

Radeon HD 7750 Crossfired with 8670D(some videos on youtube of people playing BF3, FC3, and Bioshock Inf on Ultra settings with 50-60 fps) - $90

Dude, u r machine is good.

I think you shud just add few tweaks in config. GPU ahead 1 and maxframes ahead 1.

 

Since, Im also about to buy the same kind setup.

AMD FX 8350.

And I already have AMD gfx 6870 1GB. which is same as (nvidia 560ti)
