As I remember it he said "Right now I have it at the point where the player can draw on any item." I wouldn't make it up for kicks, anyway. To enable writing on anything would be a major undertaking, I just couldn't imagine that happening, especially visibly. I suppose there could be a way to add a custom descriptor in the info box.
