No more running Zs

I'd love DayZ 9000x more if zombies didn't run. Esp when going into a small house with 1 way in/out. It would also be nice to have some sort of pushback option like in L4D2 and a block option.

So you want to be able to jog past a zombie and loot 3 buildings before the zombie takes 10 steps?...no.

The point of the zombies are to be a threat and a huge deterrent from just running in and looting. Even now when they do run they aren't that much of a threat.

 

Slow zombies would require hundreds or thousands more zombies on the server at one time, something I'd rather not have and I'm sure the devs wouldn't want either

If they didn't run but were insanely powerful, i'd like that.

2 hit kill but they could only walk, that would be sweet

Only ONE possible way I'd support this idea, and that is if the amount of zombies was 100-200x what it is now. Hordes of 300-400 zombies > Running Zombies.

This would work for me. Maybe add in being infected by a scratch or something.

Only ONE possible way I'd support this idea, and that is if the amount of zombies was 100-200x what it is now. Hordes of 300-400 zombies > Running Zombies.

Only if they sort out the horrendous frame drops that some people get when they see a group of 30+ zombies

I don't see having hundreds of zombies on screen a problem. Heck I can play Mount and Blade: Warband with the mod that lets you have over 300 soldiers on screen.

DayZ mod has a load of articulation on the zombies which causes massive load on the PC, M&B doesn't have all that articualtion, hence why it can have a tonne of NPCs on screen at the same time without causing horrendous frame drops.

Those are still two very different games than DayZ/Arma2.  I mean you might as well be comparing DayZ to Microsoft Flight or Train Simulator.  DayZ has many things to calculate where something like Dead Rising just has a few, so it can denote more resources to having more zombies.

I honestly don't like the idea of 'walker only' zombies.  Maybe add in a new 'type' that can only walk/crawl, but if it spots you it alerts the other zombies.  To be honest, zombies should be feared more than players, not just something that's a minor annoyance during a PVP fest.  If I can just walk through a town with a baseball bat, swing away and kill 20 zombies without being touched, it's not gonna be fun, in fact I'm gonna question how humanity fell to such slow moving gimps.

We have to remember, these are not Undead, these are living, rabid animals that were once human.  If I just want a zombie slaughtering simulation, I'll go find a copy of Dead Rising and play that.

Sure, and Shogun 2 Total War lets you have 40,000.

Mount and Blade doesn't require nearly as many resources as ARMA 2 does.

You can sit in an empty city and you still have a chance of dropping below 30 FPS.

running fast is great but in current mod gameplay is just so sloppy because they are running around more like meth heads than infected.

I hate the idea of slow zombies. In my opinion, it just takes away the scares you get when being chased through a city at night. I mean, aren't they kind of unrealistic? I like my running infected thank you very much. Slow zombies just make the game too easy, not scary.

While yes, that one of the meanings of the word zombie, the word has other meanings. The other meanings are mainly derived from popular culture; i.e: movies, comics, literature and TV shows.
