Stockpiling for log-outs.

Recommended Posts

I think it would be very interesting if upon log-out, the game could take a quick stock of your bare essential inventory (food and water mainly) and would give you a certain amount of time that your character can survive while logged out.

For example. The base log-out time could be one week (a real life week), no supplies needed.

Let's say you have something like a can of beans and a couple sodas. The game would tell you on log-out, (You can survive for 2 weeks with these supplies)

The more food, water, and medicine your player has, maybe resting in a tent for example - all these things would increase the amount of real time you can spend logged out of the game.

It would also be interesting to see those items consumed upon logging back in the game. Say you've been logged out for 3 weeks, and you had 4 weeks worth of supplies. 3/4 of your supplies should be consumed. No need to change the status of the player. Simply remove those necessary items over time.

If you don't log in within the survival time - your character starts back on the coast with nothing. They starved to death.

Noooooooooo. When i'm offline, the game stops.

Of course i want it to be realistic, but this is too much.

No, this is too much, it's not a real life simulator. Hence it's called a game.

if outside forces, i.e. , work, injury, vacation, etc. kept me from playing, i shouldnt suffer by having my character dying. no way

Negative. Bad idea.  Sounds  too much like my stupid sister who wakes up in the middle of the night to log in to a Facebook game to keep her farm running or some such nonsense. Real world causes me to log out, I want to be where I was when I finally get a chance to get back to it.

That's very unhealthy...

They did try something similar in the mod initially. The community hated it and demanded it be removed.

Hello there

I'd like that idea, but far less harsh than the mod originally had it.

Yes, Dean liked the idea, but the community hated it. Not everyone's life revolves around the game.

While loggin out with supplies would be a good idea but not really practical since not everyone can play every day...i had an idea about stockpiles. Maybe it was already suggested but here it is. What if you could let's say build a crate where you put all your stuff in, save it and when you log out about up to 5m away from it it will be removed from the map together with you. If you log back in it will reappear. To give the player a chance sthat when he is unlucky to be killed while loggin in the crate will appear about 1 min later and the player has the ability to "dig it in" just that much that about 5-10cm poke out, enough for it to be seen or not depending on the survivors ( meaning the other players) skill. If this idea is not already known an admin could just open up a new thread with this post, i would appreciate it.
