the1freeMan (DayZ) 10 Posted July 30, 2013 Hi guys, I' ve been playing DayZ since 1.7.1.5 and Arma 2 for a year befor Dayz and the latest patch really surprised me negatvely. The fact is that with how glitchy the zeds are, getting infected THAT fuckin' easily and getting knocked down so frequently is a big game changer and BREAKER for who enjoyed the old school Dayz experience. It's not that we can't cope with harder zeds but with all the hitting through walls and glitchy movements this is just not the right way. Game modes like Origins and 2017 are already there to discourage pvp, I think DayZ should stay Dayz and not friggn' change up the whole gameplay like that. When you learn somthing, any activity that involves a technique built and learned over time, having to relearn it is way harder than starting from zero, specially if you think things were BETTER BEFORE. For people like me and others I know, the advantage of having a squad, or even just being in two, is so huge we really didn't need something like that. I currently play with other 4 guys. three of them I know personally IRL, but my best squadmate, the one I play with the most is a guy I met playing DayZ. The whole looting makes sense because you know there might be a human player watching you trough his scope, or silently following you. That is the tension that gives immersion. Not some overpowered glitchy AIs.I've seen the standalone videos, the idea may look similar but it's implemented in a much more respectful way. I think a big problem is that the community is too big and there are too many newbies coming in even from the console world (nothing bad, just not used to mouse and tweaking) just to play this MOD who can't even set up their video options decently, let alone shoot. Guys thinkin' and calling Arma 2 an FPS! And generally n00bs thinking games are here to serve them, not willing to take the time and sacrifice to learn the game.I've even heard people say that games being n00b friendly is good.. do I really have to comment on something like that? I took my time learning a game and you friggin' turn it upside down to encourage friendly gaming??!! Survival my ass, survive from other thinking humans! Too hard? Change game. (and I don't mean change THE game)

starwarsfan@gmx.de 450 Posted July 30, 2013 It's a wonder people are still playing the mod. Haven't you seen everything there is to see yet? I got tired of it fast once all the kill on sight went down.
BigChef 55 Posted July 30, 2013 Increased chance of infection combined with Mike Tyson Zombie punches are a drag, throw in a bunch of AI bandits along w/the human varety and it's a bitch to stay alive
Zombie Jesus 723 Posted July 30, 2013 I am not sure how PvP has been nerfed, I kill people all the time. The only real change is players are unable to just stand there firing around zombies without having to respect their surroundings. It has changed PvP slightly, but in my opinion it has changed it for the better. They scaled back the infection rate and the knockdown helps punish players who do not respect their environment. Before the environment was a joke (and they already hit through walls and were glitchy those are not new issues) for experienced players, now even experienced players need to be aware of what is around them when they engage another player. Died a few times to infection and have since adapted to the changes.
colekern 1364 Posted July 30, 2013 Try DayZero. It has the feel of vanilla 1.7.6.1, but with new weapons, skins, more enterable buildings, and awesome optimization. It is, for me, the definitive DayZ experience.

Something I have been trying to address http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/143925-melee-is-now-pointless/Please stop.. OP's suggestion has nothing to do with melee and melee is not pointless, please take the time to read through all the responses to your thread and maybe understand why it is quite silly you are asking for melee to be removed. -Gews- 7443 Posted July 31, 2013 Pffft it hasn't bothered me, zombies don't feel much deadlier, the only difference is the chance of infection. As for glitchy zombies, they're here to stay and probably always will be. If you've played the game you already know all the glitches zombies are capable of, so I say deal with it. If you know they can walk through walls and glitch hit you, keep that in mind and you won't have any trouble. It's a fact of the game. If you simply ignore the potential for zombie glitches, well...
GoldenPSP 24 Posted July 31, 2013 OP, Your rambling is nice and all, but it does nothing to show how increased infection rates are nerfing PVP. How exactly does it stop you from firing on someone else? If anything I would argue that higher infection rates will ultimately help PVP. Part of enabling PVP is getting people together to fight over something. It is already far too easy in Dayz to be able to run into the hills and survive without seeing another soul for days. Increasing infection rates help in two ways. 1. More people die. This forces them to respawn at the coast, look for new gear again, and basically forces them back into the population centers to scavenge. 2. It makes the already rare antibiotics an important resource to fight over. Given that there are so few places to get a good chance for antibiotics to spawn, these become locations where survivors are willing to risk going, and fight over. Fonebook 126 Posted July 31, 2013 And generally n00bs thinking games are here to serve them, not willing to take the time and sacrifice to learn the game. Are you not asking the direction of the mod to change to serve your own personal desires? You didn't come here to discuss it, you came to berate the dev team for changes you do not like. Are you not describing yourself with this quote? You are saying you are not willing to adjust to the changes, and you have not provided any solutions, only complaints. How exactly are the more difficult zeds making the game easier or more friendly to new players? I was also frustrated with the new infection mechanic as well as the knock-down mechanic. But I have adjusted, and have come to love both. They make the game much more interesting. It is true that zeds will always be less of a threat than other players. However, even with 100 people on the map there is a good chance you can cross large areas without contact. Making the zeds more of a threat improves the game overall. Do the bugs make it worse? Yes, but it is a work in progress and a privilege to participate in it's development. The changes are far from game breaking, and we are not to the bug fixing stage of development yet really. In conclusion I respect your right to disagree with the direction of the mod, but the execution of your disgust leaves much to be desired.

No it might not have a direct link, but I am also put off negatively by various changes. Since it is what the OP is talking about in first paragraph then I think it applies. If you are in range of being attacked, then you are either going to fire point blank which gets you killed or use melee which also gets you killed. It is the changes that are killing pvp, according to the OP. I agree on this point and want to also discuss why? What Changes? Most of the replies were insults from people who didn't actually wan't to answer my questions. I think I understand why so many people are just disappearing.
