Interesting idea for the DayZ SA, add a powerplant in the North with high levels of radiation, but good supplies, reminds me of S.T.A.L.K.E.R, great game set in chernobyl, it's like DayZ.

As much as it would work in some other type of game, radiation has nothing to do with anything in DayZ.

So I doubt it's going to be implemented.

Like S.T.A.L.K.E.R you mean?  The thing is that games narrative was based around the demise of Chernobyl.  This is a zombie survival game.

Hopefully in time disease will fulfil that role.

Don't worry, the coast will be covered in human waste and disease in no time.

Dancing.Russian.Man

its Post apocalypse, There is noone to care about Reactors in Power stations so IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO with DayZ XD

Without laughing : It may be interesting, when u are approaching building and there is something like this. It is also very similar to the actions in the movie Czarnobyl, Czarnobyl Diaries

Yeah, but what about fresh spawns? Would they just have to run straight north, or do a hit and run for loot in the cities?

What you say about infection and disease from human remains filling that role is interesting. Will there be periodic restarts in the SA that will clear bodies away like in the mod though? Perhaps more of those stinking, fly ridden body piles around cities and military instillations could do the job

Disease/infection etc will (hopefully) be a very complex system.  As a basic example I see it playing out a bit like this:

Most of the murders/deaths etc. initially will be in the major cities because old habits die hard.  After a while the corpses and general waste due to high player traffic, certain diseases (cholera etc) will be concentrated in those areas.  There will be measures players can take to avoid being at risk (certain clothes, gas-masks, crafted items, disinfectant, antibiotics, meds, etc) but the risk of going to a city will be considerably higher than surviving outside of them.

If you also take into account that players gear will also be able to transfer disease (when looting a corpse for eg.) then cities start to look a lot less attractive to fresh spawns or players that aren't geared up correctly to deal with the new hazards.  I think it's one of the things most likely to change the way people play.

Well i'm no expert but, i think if a nuclear power plant was uncared for radiation might leak out,

Good idea especially in nuclear areas...

drinking alcohol also protects against radiation, that could be a new feature too...

Only vodka.....Oh and play fallout 3, it manages radiation very well, with some mods your character will lose hair if exposed to radiation for too long.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R had Zombies too, it is still the best game i have ever played, tons of scares.

I don't know, maybe add one in the standalone? like in some kind of DayZ: Aftermath mode

But if the server restarts every 2 hours I don't think the bodies would persist and the disease would die off in those areas as well

Rocket said that the server runs very stable and doesn't have to be restarted often- basically just when it needs to be updated.

And you believe it no matter what? From my BIS experience i highly doubt that.

I just quoted rocket. Of course I doubt that, too, but I don't have any experience with BIS, so I can't say anything about it.
