Will DayZ work if I get Arma II Free from the Arma II website, but then buy OA from Steam?

Are there any special steps I would need to take? I've tried searching with no success.

Yes.

I THINK you just copy the addons file (from Arma II:Free to the operation arrowhead folder (I wouldn't risk it and would wait for a smarter person to come by and confirm this though)

You can get ArmA II Free on steam too, just paste "steam: //install/107400" into internet explorer without any spaces.

 

I don't have any experience installing it using ArmA 2 free though, from what I've read you just need to copy your ArmA II Free/Addons folder into your Operation Arrowhead folder. http://kodabar.blogspot.com.au/2012/05/how-to-install-dayz-with-arma-2-free.html

Hello there

 

to steer the post back on topic. A2free *can* be used but it's not ideal and youre missing out on a massive amount of content.
