As an accompaniment to seasons (which may or may not be implemented and if so, would be an instant type thing. Summer..server restart BAM ! winter.) would be some sort of nature type mechanic such as flowers slowly blooming in the morning and closing by dusk. More and varied bird song in the morning and at dusk, different birds signalling the start and end of a day- just a general feel of a waking up of the world and then everything settling back down.
