The whole leg breaking aspect is rediculous, in my opinion, and it usually ends the game for you unless you have a rare morphine injection. As far as realism goes, morphine is a pain killer. It doesn't allow bone to instantly mend and have you up and running again in moments. The concept of broken legs in the game is a negative.

Anyone that breaks their leg falling down three or four steps is either too old to survive anyway or severely calcium deficient, haha.

Ofc it is, everyone knows it. But what would the game be without it? Also, the medical system in the SA will be way more complex.

I agree with OP, I find that the broken leg mechanic doesn't add to the game, just creates an insanely inconvenient mechanic; they could just as easily just make you lose blood based on distance fallen.

Edit for grammar

Actually I rarely have problems with broken legs any more, morphine isn't hard to find. If you go to a hospital you are like 95% sure there will me plenty of morphine.

Antibiotics on the other hand.... fuck me, infection is so deadly now

DO you want to REMOVE legs breaking from the game? In a contest of the shinier of two shits, legs being breakable and painkillerable is a LOT better than not being breakable at all.

Not totaly. I would however like to remove from the game the breaking of legs from a height of just a few feet. Seriously, I once broke a leg falling off a deer stand ladder from halfway up. It was about four feet tops. Amazing how I can run nonstop from one city to the next, quite a feat of athleticism, but break a leg when falling halfway down an 8' ladder.

Hopefully the possibility of breaking bones is different in SA so that a door or a punch cant break a leg. The medical system will be revamped for SA no doubt. Honestly, breaking a leg in the apocalypse would be a death sentence so as a game we probably need something (such as morphine or a splint) so we can play on.

But at least make the character limp a bit afterwards, or only able to use one handed weapons if the arm is broken.

When was the last time you broke a leg?

I ask because the chance of breaking a leg from random shit was greatly reduced as of patch 1.7.7

The whole breaking a leg thing is a bit far fetched but at the end of the day its just a game mechanic designed to punish carelessness and its also pretty handy for disabling players without killing them.

Maybe it would help if you just consider it as a dislocated joint or even a really really nasty bruise.

I broke a leg at the beach once, didn't even get four foot past my spawn point after falling unconscious and bleeding out. Not a rock, door or zed involved. just tough fucking sand.

Chernarus is a whole different reality man.

I play with ArmA configs all the time. I changed the falling distance-to-damage to about 4 meters (so you can safely fall 1 story without dying/breaking your leg). The problem is, the ArmA engine is not designed for falling, or houses. There's no good way to balance fall distance and visual fidelity; no matter what falling is going to look stupid if you don't get hurt falling 5-6 fet. My suggestion is to ragdoll if you fall more than 20 feet (and take damage), and have a fall animation for 5-19 feet.

The limping feature would be much welcome indeed. It sure as hell beats crawling. The speed could be halfway between crouch-running and walking, or a bit faster then walking.

And most important, if you were shot by someone your aim should be dramaticly decreased. You should not be able to hold your weapon perfectly straight after being shot in the chest.

Morphine isn't hard to get once you figure it out. The only issue I have with morphine drops is that all the hospitals are on the coast. They need to put more hospitals in the game or spread the current ones out.

Fall Damage needs to be fixed, normal human beings can usually fall two stories without seriously injuring themselves. It is kind of ridiculous to hear my character moaning and groaning for hours after skipping a step on the way down some stairs.

I don't mind this feature but it is usually something stupid that causes it. Occasionally I'll be climbing up a ladder then when I get to the top my player just falls down and breaks his legs. Once I was in a barn with steps in it and I accidentally ran off the edge of the stairs approximately 5 or 6 stairs high and broke my legs. That is where I draw the line. I feel like the fall needs to be more severe in order for leg breaking to occur.
