Your First Time Playing DayZ

I was repeatedly murdered in the first day, spent two hours crawling around with broken legs; was followed by a newly spawned bandit for thirty minutes before he found a gun and killed me....good times, good times.

The first time I played DayZ was on 4th of July 2013, that date holds no significance to me because I am not an American.

I watched videos of the famous Rhinocrunch for a few weeks and that is what convinced me that DayZ was a game I had to play. I had to go through a whole load of shit to get the munny together to buy a PC and so I got to live my current short term dream on Wednesday gone.

It took me 7 hours to install and work out how to get the game started, in fact this forum was where I found Dayz command.

Even so, after seven hours I am pretty angry at life when I join the game.

My first moments came near a ship dock. I found an axe and other stuff that didn't interest me, all I could think about was getting the first kill under my belt.

I was in the shop, I heard shots and decided to wait in the back, where I found a Makarov with 2 mags. I walk around (I say walk, I mean walk. My character was stuck in walking mode, I didn't know the button to tell him to move his fucking arse.)

I walk around to the front and I see a player. He is bent over some crap in the shop, his back to me. I walk behind him and start swinging the axe. I hear his leg break and he is unconchus.

I told him he is my first ever kill,I told him he deserved to die for playing like such a noob to be killed by a noob. I told him that I am grateful for his stupidity. I switched to the Makarov and despatched him with a single shot to the head. I have more since then but this thread is only consurned with the first.

when i played it for the first time i had ran into some nice people who drove me to elektro and made me get surplies for them. after that we drove to a air field where i left the group but eventurly got behide all of them and over heard what they were saying "dude why didn't we kill him." "because he just joined and had nothing on him i was being nice." that made me mad but i did not know how to shoot the gun i had proply and just stole their car and ran them over exept for the fellow who was nice. i then said "mate you want a ride" and he hoped in, good day that was almost forgot how loud a car can be and we were over run by zeds my friend did not make it but i escaped

The first time I played was in like April of when it came out, I had no idea what to do, I just saw it on IGN and thought it looked cool so I bought it, I was crouching everywhere and complaining in side chat on how I couldn't find a gun...I'm still shit at it though.

I set up a tent near pusta, then log off. Another day I joined to another server and the tent wasnt there. I quit playing, then I learned all the facts later....

So my friend wanted to find a new game to "hang out" in online. This is who we keep in touch now that we live a bit further from each other. He mentioned he was thinking about DayZ and asked if I would be interested. Well, I had seen DayZ on Ctrl+Alt+Del and watched videos from when it first came out. Yeah I was interested but I was always a bit hesitant to play the game on my own. 

So he downloaded it and played for a couple days before I got paid and bought ARMA II. 

He didn't have a great loadout, but he had a gun and I didn't so we worked to meet up. 


First life I agro'd a zombie and got hit. I finally lost it and was able to bandage myself. Then I got hit again running into a yard with a fence and not being able to hop over it before I got smacked. I bled out while running. 

Life take two, Agro'd a large mob of zombies and died running into a house hoping for a pistol and finding out it had no other door. 

Take three, Yes I got a Hatchet! Oh and we are almost in the same town. I am kiling zombies! ......... and I'm unconscious.. they are eating me... 
 

Take four we met up despite me spawning even further away. It was night now and we are working slowly through the city crawling and ducking into cover and avoiding zombies. Without gaining agro we finally find me a shotgun. Didn't get a pistol for several weeks but I did get a map and another hatchet. We spend the whole time being paranoid about other players, here distant shots but never see anyone, slowly work our way through a truly dark night, and avoid zombies. It was so much fun. 

We got lost, found ourselves on the map again, stumbled into a town trying to run through and loot it but with no enterable buildings we just end up pulling a huge mob down on us and running after snatching some food and drink. Back to Cherno since there are now fewer people on and in the firehall I find myself a genuine DMR. I then do overwatch for my friend and a few others that end up joining us. That couple of weeks when the game was fresh was great. We ran into bandits, friends died but I got one with the DMR and my other friends shot a different one with M4A1s they had just looted from Stary. I learn that certain surfaces will break your bones or let you fall through the map and lose your precious DMR and Ghillie suit. :)

I actually survived for quite a long time the first time I played DayZ. My friend had gotten me into it, and I was already familiar with Arma 2 so we were at his house playing on the same server. He was already pretty geared up and he wanted to give me stuff but I told him I wanted to earn it myself. I think we went into either Cherno or Elektro (this was a while ago) and we went into the supermarket. Found an Alice Pack, an M1911, food/drinks and some basic survival stuff (got a hatchet in a barn on the way). It was a pretty good start to the game, extremely lucky though. We then went into the fire station and I found an AKM with 3 magazines. I got really excited at this point since I had been playing for like 30 minutes and I was already pretty well geared.

We then started heading to the NWAF. Saw some ghillie guy with an AS 50 (back in the day) running through the forest. We split up and tried to corner him. He saw my friend, shot him, and then I just sprayed the crap out of the ghillie and he died. My friend was on low blood, so I got a bloodbag out of his bag and patched him up. We ended up getting to the NWAF, we got some military stuff, found some camo clothes, some silenced weapons etc.

For about 3 real life days I was alive, going to random villages/towns (I didn’t really know what was where, which buildings had what, or which ones could be entered, what the main towns were etc).

Eventually I just got KoSed by an Elektro camper, but everything up til that was awesome. I basically got a taste of every main aspect in DayZ: Avoiding Zombies, getting general loot, encountering and engaging in combat with another player, team work, healing someone, military gear etc.

Anyways, firstly got eaten by zeds. Then killed by bugs. Then killed by players. First ever kill(with a hatchet). Learning basics. Sniped down lots of times with AS 50. Blood rush a lot. More bugs.

Good old dayZ...

My first weeks where really enjoyable and laid back, which is quite a rare phenomenon for the first week or two. That's because I had already made arrangements. Two of my friends from Minecraft, who where long-timers in DayZ, directing me to their privately owned server. I got a heli pickup and was taken to their base and provided a hefty sum of survival kitting. That server was where I spent my first week. When I started on the public servers, I already had caught wind to the mechanics and was practicing a style that fitted me perfect.

just ran in and gave no fucks about grabbing aggros, i ran straight to the firestations then the markets and just ran around the cities. It was pretty lame would get killed alot. Then I smartened up and made it farther up north.and that is when i learnt the art of sneaking around.

I died by zombies quite a few times.

 

Also quite a few deaths by hunger and thirst. Being lost in the middle of no where thinking Im loosing my mind going in circles. Not a fun place lol.

 

I remember one of the first times I got killed by a person. I was eiterh in Cherno, Elektro or maybe even somewhere in Origins. I just found a G36, by far the best gun I had ever found. The first gun I found that wasnt a Lee or Winchester. I was shot and killed literally as soon as I picked it up. It still hurts to think about it today. Te extreme excitment then extreme disappointment.

I was on skype with my friend and we actually made it pretty far, we got a truck, a couple guns, blood bags, ammo, etc. We traveled up towards Stary and passed Zelenogorsk. We got out to look around and check the map, when my friend told me there was a jeep coming. We got in an epic gunfight and I died right at the end.

Or it was that time I fell down the stairs in a barn, broke my legs and bled out.

I'll let you seperate the truth from the falsities. It'll sharpen your mind.

 

 

 

Considering I could have spawned in the center of Cherno and not known where I was at when I first started playing (I didnt even know the game tells you where you are upon spawning in) I will say option 2 is the true story lol.

 

I doubt any new player could knowingly make their way to Stary then Zeleno and then be invovled in any sort of epic gun fight on there first few rounds. Good story tho.

I ran towards a zombie thinking it was a survivor...and basically, I was eaten by 76,000 zombies.

After that I found a hatchet, and hid in bushes thinking someone was shooting at me when I used it.

My first game was a few weeks ago-I spawn in, and look around, taking it all in and head toward a small town in the distance. I find a few things and get the attention of a zed and holy shit the first time running for my life with a zombie right behind me was actually intense. I play BF3 a lot but have never had that sensation of fear. My first gun was a pistol , which I used to help another new spawn who was trying to shoot every zombie he saw and he ended up cornered in a cabin-after I killed the ones outside he came out, did the happy dance and moved off-sadly he kept shooting at zombies and I noticed he died shortly after we left each other.My first week was spent mostly avoiding other players as I had mostly bad experiences with them, and I had only encountered two friendly players that didn't immediately start shooting, but they didn't have mic's so I didn't bother trying to hang around them. I'm only a few weeks in, so every time I log in I feel like it's pretty new, and I have just enough knowledge to get in trouble now.
