Tents should reset when you die.

Recommended Posts

A tent's contents should only exist for as long as the character that placed them is alive.

When that character dies the items stored in the tent should be gone.

Edit for clarity.

And thus making them mostly useless.

I think they need to update it so no matter who placed the tent anyone can sleep in it

I found a tent the other day in the middle of no where

was very very very sick

died because I could not sleep in said tent and try to cure the "sickness" that I had

???

Did you think of that idea yourself or did you copy it from one of Einstains theories?

one tent could serve more people.. it makes no sense for the whole squad to lose all items because the one who placed the tent has died

No no guys!

I'm pretty sure that if i placed a tent in real life it would disappear too when i died. We gotta keep the game realistic, remember?

Care to explain why you think this would be better?

my idea would be the following....

If you leave your tent unattended for too long it should start to "fall apart". Irl this would most likely happen if there were wild animals around.

Haha, that picture made my day.

But really, most of the purpose of tents is to serve as a way of storing your gear. I use it to store my valuable gear when i'm going on a mission that retains a high chance of death. Making tents disappear when you die would make them mostly pointless.

When you die, Players can loot your stuff. When you die your tent should not dissapear, nor your contents. anyone who has come across a tent has a great time in game especially when they find gear inside. It is one of the great things about DayZ

Not trying to be pedantic but things just don't dissapear by themselves. Never get attached to your gear, stored or otherwise.

Please state why you think this should happen!

I guess I just take issue with people stock piling equipment in tents and then just running a fresh spawn to gear up right away. As a concept it breaks the fourth wall for me.

it would be cool to build up a huge stash then get killed by a glitch and have all your stuff vanish, no thanks

I hate the fact you cant place them in trees anymore.

Tho that had little efect anyway, the goddamn Arma 2 engine...if you placed a tent in trees you couldnt see it if you were close. That got you thinking o goodie, my stuff is safe.

Wrong, if you went some 100 or so meters away from there the tree practicaly vanished and the tent was seen, glowing in bright green colur.

It is easy to spot it from heli even if in trees, since trees become like toothpicks from distance and the tents and cars glow amongst them.

There should be a option to lock tents or cars, people deserve privacy.

go ahead, lock your tents & cars. It won't stop me from camping them until you return so I can blow you and all your stuff sky high with satchel charges >:V

I make a job in game of finding peoples gear and chucking all said gear away.

How do you lock a tent by the way.

I understand it is annoying that players go and find their tents after death to re-arm, but there is nothing in the game to prevent this bar killing them more.

I always liked the Idea of spawning on another map after death, would make life a little bit more difficult for Hoarding Monkey Abusers.

Think of it this way;

You wind up on shore of a familiar land; Chenarus, the place you were born and raised. The entire place is torn apart now. You opt out of sight-seeing, the nostalgia could get you emotional, and you already have a plan. A [RELATIVE/GROUP OF FRIENDS/COMMUNITY] has a stockpile of weapons stored away at [TENT LOCATION]. That's all you know. You have no idea if said [RELATIVE/GROUP OF FRIENDS/COMMUNITY] is still there, or even still alive. But there will probably be guns, and that's always a good place to start.

There we go, a logical reason for the tents to remain and gear you up after fresh spawn.

then why even have tents?

Only reason i even use tents is to gear up after spawn.

THIS! is my only concern! There must be a way to prevent this..

If you run into a player, with gear, fight him/her and WIN. Why do you care what that player does after you kill them?

If 10-20 minutes later you see a geared-up player. Is it the same person, or a new person? Did they gear up at a tent? Does it make any difference at all?

I can only answer the last question for certain. The answer is NO.

See, I don't want to re-gear at a tent because I like to scavenge and explore while underprepared. That's what I enjoy and it's how I play the game.

If other players want to play a different way, it has no effect on my game, so let them.

Removing tents on death will remove (or drastically reduce) the chance of finding a treasure-tent in the wilderness.

It would effectively harm gameply for ALL players, not just the ones who choose to rearm at their camp on death.

Well, once duping is completely removed, they could stay. It is very hard to make stuff like this work, since only solo players would once again get punished. If the tent you created gets destroyed, your friends can make a new one and take the loot from yours.

Tents (and stashes) do not last forever.

They last 7 days after last touch for live players and 4 days for dead players.

this idea is stupid only a matter of time before this is sent to the graveyard

Loving the constructive feedback guys! Would hate to burden everyone with Suggestions that didn't appeal to literally every single person with a keyboard! My mistake guys for misunderstanding subjectivity.
