Toxic gas and kevlar west

Some buildings (mainly those with the high-end gear) should be infected with toxic zombie gas. It should be random wich buildings, but Military spawns should have a WAAAAAY higher rate than civ. buildings.

The only way to enter and loot those buildings then would be by putting on a gas mask. (And if you want to look awesome a whole NPC-suite ;D) This would make it harder to find the best loot, since you first have to look for a gas mask. (which should also be rare) An other solution to enter these buildings would be to let it open for 30min-10h. Then the gas just disapears. And if you find a toxic building with a opened door, you can wait for someone returning. And the gas mask should limit your fov, like real gas mask.

There should also be a "gas grenade" wich covers a house (not a open field) with the gas. For example, if I find a M4A3 but cant take it, I just cover the area with smoke so no one can take it.

A kevlar west should be findable in a mil. building and reduce damage from every weapon by 40% and disable out-knocking. (that shit is game breaking anyway) And pistols should not make any damage at all with one on you. A securate helmet saves from head shots. And if a dev is reading this, this game NEEDS a storm masks ;D

I like the idea of toxic gas, I dont know how it would be implemented though

I like the idea of ballistic vests, but they have to be modelled properly.

A kevlar west should be findable in a mil. building and reduce damage from every weapon by 40% and disable out-knocking.

I don't think it would reduce damage by 40% if the bullet still pierces you... I'd rather have a two or three levels of protection, the lower-tier vests could stop most handgun rounds (getting hit could still wind you, disrupt your aim) but would have little effect on rifle ammunition. The best vests could be equipped with trauma plates than can stop pretty much any round you'd be likely to encounter, however people could still shoot you in the side or other unprotected areas to avoid them. Certain ammunition could also have a large damaging and/or disorienting effect upon being hit, ie shotgun slugs.

If it was possible I think the range should affect all of that too. I mean a shotgun round close up is gonna pierce farther in then one from a distance. I like the different tiers of vests though, lowest level could maybe even be like a craftable one?

Toxic gas is a good idea, but I don't see it combined with z infection per se. Perhaps radioactive spill from unatended nuclear factory/nuclear ammo dump? Or chemical contamination from nearby factory? If devs were to introduce both contamination types then u would perhaps need a full suit for the radioactive one, (plus geiger, etc) and just a mask for the chemical one? Also, what about contaminating the gear u bring along with u? Running water and showers will become important too, I guess, for decontamination. I can see it allready, people holding a point with running water and sending prisoners in the infected areas to get equipment unprotected :(

Vests/helmets are cool to have as choices, as long as they affect movement accordingly.

R they going to introduce ropes and ladders, or is the idea too complicated? (Asking it here because it's damn hard to climb anywhere while wearing a bulletproof vest.)

A kevlar vest either stops the bullet and still gives you significant pain, it might even knock you out but your lights will still be on, meaning you will wake up. If the vest isn't tough enough to stop the bullet it will pass through like it wasn't even there. Only high grade bullet proof equipment can stop high powered rounds and you would still feel it ( US Soldier shot in the plate with 7.62x54 at let me lie less than 200m? and he still had broken ribs ), that also includes helmets ( Gunner of a .50 shot from the top, the tip of an AP bullet penetrated his helmet inflicting a heavy wound but not killing him. He was confused for the next hours due to the trauma ). This is not hollywood where the hero wears a vest and the bullets hitting him have no effect.

Blaze's weapons mod (used by the GITs Arma community) has lethal and ltl gas grenades they work very well indeed, but do disperse quickly.

I am asking for a system similar to Counter Strike, not some pathetic wannabe realistic shit.

I will just never get how someone can think Arma is realistic. Its authentic, not more.
