What you guys think about the new update?

Recommended Posts

Just my two cents, i think they have ruined the zombies again! You run past them they will knock you over 50% of the time, it just makes the zombies more anoying than ever. And where is all the loot? All i have found is tin cans (seriously), not even a can of coke or a box of beans, no guns or anything other than flares, empty tin cans, shotgun ammo and such. Now the patch might just need some tweaking as its day one, but right now i am having a whole lot of "not fun time" playing it. Your opinion guys?

Thanks for the observation grimson. I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds like it's close to what I have been looking for.

Shame about the loot you found, but I hadn't heard anything about the junk loot becoming more likely or anything. Could have just been bad luck.

Sounds like the good old days to me when finding the smallest things mattered, as a result of that you end up genuinely fearing for your life. So far I'm loving what I'm hearing, sounds like DayZ is gonna stop catering to the casual player and get back to it's roots.

Man up, whining. Oh the irony (i hope). Its just personal preference guys, and im not the only one. Loads of people have been complaining about this. Lets say it this way. The developers should not make the zombies more powered in the state they are. Wait until the standalone, when the zombies has a new skeleton, they are moving differently and so on. Zombies have allways been buggy and glitchy, i dont see why to make them more powerfull at the moment.

But have you tried it? Easy written on paper, harder to excecute properly.

To me it just seems like an attempt to recapture the original DayZ experience that will never be duplicated in the current mod for experienced players (hopefully standalone with added features can make the grind more interesting). Making loot harder to find just adds a frustration factor. I can kill someone with an Enfield especially if they are playing under the same conditions.

Personal opinion, if it was not for the heavily modded servers I would play DayZ far less today. The thrill of running to the NWAF has been lost and no amount of nerfing loot or removing weapons will make it fun to grind out vanilla DayZ on a consistent basis. I had a great deal of fun last summer playing vanilla DayZ and I often end up going back and having fun in small doses with vanilla DayZ. But if I have an hour or two to kill and nothing else I feel like playing I will jump in an easy mode server with tons of guns and vehicles and just have fun. That is why I could really care less about the new patch, server owners will end up tweaking features anyways so both groups can have what they want.

Oh yea, man up.

Not yet, some friends have and I'm hearing good things. The post I made above was in reference to loot being rarer.

Regarding zombies well I'll hold judgement until I've tried it. It's worth noting though that zombies are always going to be "buggy" to some degree in the mod, because it's a mod and the devs can only do so much within those restrictions. Zombies are supposed to be a pain in the ass though and you are supposed to fear them.

I am supposed to fear them right? Then why im i just anoyed by them. When i see a zombie, all i think is "ok, theres one, and another one, lets try to run into the barracks and shoot all the zombies coming inside". There is no fear what so ever but they are a serious pain in the ass, i will give you guys that!

I just find it annoying when you can't defend youself because of the super speed and erratic movements...

The update was only recently released, have you spent time actually trying to learn how to handle the new behaviors or are you just getting annoyed because you're trying to play it the way you were before and it's not working?

I realise the mod has to evolve over time so as not to become stagnant and the devs aren't going to get it right every time, there's been patches in the past that I've hated too for various reasons so I'm not knocking you for not liking it so far, I'm just saying I like the general direction it's taking. It's going to be a bumpy ride, it always has been with DayZ but I'm happy that they're at least attempting to make it more of a challenge again.

Well there's gonna be crying in the standalone when zombies are more of a threat anyway and people will complain hey should be easy like the mod used to be

May as well get used to it now so your ready, and the zombies are not that glitchy as some of the bugs like hitting through walls were fixed I believe

Tent placement is totally bugged. Since the update, tents can be only set in a large open area. You can't hide them anymore.

Do you have some images of locations you tried to place for us to recreate ?

Will have them tomorrow because it's late and I died. I also have to run way up north and find another tent to set.

The zombies aren't a threat as their blows are easy to evade, they're just annoying as hell now. They follow you through everything like they're tied to you at the waist, and agro through things that they really shouldn't be able to.

I was crouching stationary in a barn with only 1 hopping zombie in there with me. He wasn't paying any attention to me whatsoever, but all of a sudden the 20 or so zombies around the town suddenly screamed, and all came running in after me.

Another example; After sneaking out of polana I agro'd a zombie even though I was crouch walking a good 80 metres away. Not a problem, I was next to a small forest area of about 50 pine trees. I thought I'd easily break visual by crouching through the trees and out of the other side. But no, I crouch out of the other side, and 20 seconds later it comes hurtling out after me.

I've been playing it for one night and already the bullsh#t agro's are starting to grate a little. I'll give it some more time and see how I feel.

You sure you didn't accidentally talked through in-game voice chat? that usually works as a dining bell..

thats what i was thinking ^^

i just adopted the new behavior to my gamestyle - if im chased by ueds i dont try to run past them or away of them - i walk backwards and shoot them... works great! only got pulled down 3 or 4 times in 5 hours... and every time it was MY fault because i acted the wrong way.

One question, do the zombies knock you out with full health or you must have like 75% or less health in order for that to happen?

edit: grammar.
