Simple poll. What would you prefer? Should zombies be a bigger threat than players, or should players be a bigger threat than zombies.

Question #1 is simple, question #2 is detailed. If I missed something or you would like an option added, post in the comments below.

If you can't decide, don't vote!

Does this even have to be asked? I will always be more dangerous than a zombie.

I think if a zombie apocalypse is to make any sense the zombies need to be more powerful. If the humans are more dangerous then how did they let the infection spread in the first place? But this is a game, so arguments can be made to justify the zombies weakness.

"She looked down to blush, and up to sigh with a smile on her face, and a tear in her eye." -Lochinvar, by Sir Walter Scott

Hey!! I remember that poem!

The disease is more than likely airborne.

The unlucky survivors of the apocalypse are the few humans with the (for whatever reason) luck and skill to survive, or arrived post-WTFness event.

Zombie threat should equal player threat. While players are more of a danger individually, the sheer numbers of zombies should balance their lack of individual danger.

In an ideal zombie apocalypse, anyway....

Players should be afraid of shooting at other players for fear of attracting zombies and afraid of shooting zombies for fear of attracting other players.

Zombies should be the greatest threat overall. I've said it many times, I will say it again. The zombie genre has been confused these days, with a similar but different genre known as the post apocalyptic thriller or aftermath thriller. Take for instance one of the greatest zombie films ever - 'The Return Of The Living Dead'. In ROTLD were humans or zombies feared more? Most any zombie film not made within this millennium followed the formula of zombies as the vastly central source of horror and threat. Apparently, the gaming industry/mod communities have yet to pay proper homage to the classic zombie genre. That or the ridiculous belief that zombies cannot be enough of a threat to players in a video game reigns.

No matter how you make it. Players will always be more threatening!

I think the unlucky survivors are the small percentage of the population that are immune to the infection.

Players will always be the bigger threat.

Zombies should be a big threat, BUT..

Zombies will always be predictable in their actions, other players can do one of a million things in reaction to an event.

Zombies should be a threat, but players will always be much more dangerous.

In the mod as it stands, zombies are very predictable as they mostly spawn outside buildings and move in predictable, solitary patterns.

If the zombie system was reworked so that zombies existed in area X before a player arrived, but were dormant without external stimulus and would investigate what another zombie was up to when they saw/heard/smelled one; we'd be playing a game where zombies were the primary threat. Again.

The zombies don't need to ridiculously fast, strong or have super senses to be a threat. Once you have the possibility that there could be a zombie behind every door, wall, corner, tree or bush minding it's own zombie business until a tasty treat turns up; then you'll need to team up with other survivors just to get a can of beans from a small village.

If zombies were more of a threat in that they forced players to work together, then players would be less of a threat.

The poll lacks of another option:

They should be different threats.

Kill the Dead, fear the living. This was the motto for The Walking Dead, encountering a player should be as exciting and challenging as it is now, and encountering zeds should be dangerous and risky to handle, and they should be able to end a player's life, so that people thinks twice about entering a city.

That's basically what they've done with the SA. Zombies will spawn on server start up and persist in the world until killed. This'll make life much more interesting and less predictable

Playing as a zombie should be an option.

It'd be used to troll way too much and break the immersion IMO. If you get douches running around as Zeds it'll just get silly.

Yeah, because douches running around with weapons killing every person they see isn't silly either.

Most people wouldn't play zombies, but it would be interesting. Zombies pretty much are trolls, just spectacularly bad at it.

I'm standing next to you in a bush but you can't hit me! My immersion, it's broken.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree then. I can handle players running around doing whatever they want but if a zed runs up to me and starts dancing then I'll give up I think.

See, I've heard that argument before, but that idea bores the hell out of me; I would try so much harder to avoid being bit/et cetera if I knew I could get the Disease.

So, dancing in front of someone who can just shoot you in the face or axe you is "trolling".

Maybe if it was an invincible hacker, I would agree.

Yeh, I agree TBH. i guess the new disease mechanic could help with this. Although you might not get "the INFECTION" I guess any sort of wound will carry much larger risks than it does now.
