I think the Standalone will be fantastic, no matter what the other threads say.

Do you think the Standalone will be fun to play?

The Devblogs sound promising already, and I hope it will be a great game. That people will continue to play for months, and years. Hopefully it won't die directly after release. (*cough warz cough*). What do you think?

Hello there

I *hope* the SA will be amazing. I think it will be.

I do however think that the mod has given us so many choices that the hardcore SA will disappoint many folk, especially those who want a server with 300+ weapons and full loadouts. I think when the SA is released without modding (which I agree with) that there will be a great wailing and gnashing of teeth.

I believe we need to handle folks misplaced expectations.

Regardless, I'm very excited for SA. it will sit nicely next to A3.

Rgds

I'll be glad to play a server without a 200 heli's in every town and starting with a sniper.

I think the SA will be great!

Warz= Hackers! That is why it died for us anyways. I think there are less hackers on dayz servers now then when it first came out. I played back then, and every server we would get on would have a hacker it suxed. So then we went to warz when it came out lol but all the hackers followed and we are back to dayz!

I think it will be fun for those of us that want to play DayZ.

For those that want to play super COD sandbox extreme 1000+ vehicles, Start with AS50 - they will hopefully be very disappointed.

I just don't want them to ruin the game by catering to morons who want it to be easy.

There were always be hackers, in every game. I wish there wouldn't be but there will be hackers in the SA, lets hope the get banned quick though.

It's not whether or not a game has hackers so much as it's about how they deal with them. At the very least, it will take significantly more effort to cheat in Standalone than it currently does in the mod.

I'm sure the forums will be flooded with complaints about how we should start with a weapon, nvgs, a vehicle, a map, etcetera within the first week of Standalone's release

I think BI is doing it right by putting it all server-side and keeping scripts out of it.

The standalone will have a much wider demographic as it is not a mod that people have to fiddle with to make work.

The SA won't have the same excuse that the mod has about well... being a mod and you will get many consumers who don't understand or care about why the mod is the way it is.

These consumers will expect a hack-free game that they don't need a degree under their belts to know which variant of the game they are joining.

My hope is that SA will be more survival focused. Tougher zombies, more ways to get sick and injured, and more co operation needed to repair/build/heal.

I'm excited about the crafting aspect and the potential trading economy that will arise.

I hope to god that vehicles are not as fragile! Sick of spending hours getting an Atv up too all green status then bump a tree at 5kph and EVERYTHING gets damaged.

It will be better at the start, and will continue to improve so long as our small dev team continues to make the best game possible and to not cater to easy mode players.

I'd love to live in the woods, using the environment to my advantage, with my trusty hunting rifle slung over my back. :)

What I don't want, is seeing players with top tier backpacks driving all over with their SUVs and AS50s. No sir.

Don't make the game easier.

That's all I have to say.

That's the beauty of a Steam release. Every time an update is released Steam will automatically download and install it for you. I assume all servers will keep up to date with the latest version, so everything should be super-easy. :)

The standalone will be awesome. The fat chodes who don't even have the courage to press the "No" option won't in any way hinder my hope and trust in Rocket and the developers to deliver us a kick ass game. In other words, I won't mind the swim to Utes :P

ArmA 3's vehicles are *MUCH* more durable.

It's refreshing to see someone being optimistic about the game. There's no telling what the launch will be like, it could be awesome, it could be a bugfest, but there's no telling until it hits the shelves, so to speak. Either way, I commend your enthusiasm sir, have some of Heinz' finest. Good for 5 years if stored correctly dontchaknow.

I voted no. I thought Aliens: Colonial Marines was going to be a fantastic game and yeah you all know the story about THAT game.

I don't think it will be terrible either. Only time will tell.

As long as they stick to Rocket's original idea of a hardcore survival appocalypse thingy then it should be great. Only thing that can f*$k it up is dumbing it down for the masses and making it easier.

keep it brutal and hard and were onto a winner  dare I say it no starting gear except your y-fronts!

Aliens: Colonal Marines > DayZ: SA.

Seems legit.

People never read the post do they? (also try to be original the whole "seems legit" comment has been used so much. Also the fact that right now it is out and DayZ: SA is not so yes actually ACM is currently greater than SA simply because you can play it (barely but you get my point, hopefully, so yes it actually is legit but not what i meant to say).

I don't think it will be terrible either. Only time will tell.

I used ACM as a reason as to why i don't trust games to be awesome until they are released and seen for real. Its not the only game to have let me down too.

It should be pretty good by the looks of it. Also, I can't shake the feeling that they're holding out on us just so that when it arrives, it's going to feel like the first time again when we log on.
