(SA) Military weapons are getting rarer, but that doesn't mean there shouldn't be lots of guns to choose from.

Military weapons are already confirmed to be rarer in the SA. However there is one thing that annoys me about this.

Rocket has said that there are going to be fewer military weapons. They are still deciding what to keep, but two weapons already confirmed are the AK's and the M4. But I don't think they should stop there.

Basically, my suggestion is that there be a lot of military weapons to choose from. Military weapons that would fit better with the russian setting. For example, Europe is pretty close to Russia, so we'd probably see more l85's than M4s. Or how about an ACR? Or a SAW?

I mean really, when the standalone releases, what is going to be 90% of players favorite gun?

The M4. That's it.

Adding more military weapons would just give more choice to players. Each gun has advantages and disadvantages, and players would find one that suits their playstyle.

I'm not suggesting that military weapons be common.

Military weapons would still be very rare, and at best you'd get an assault rifle.But I don't see why we would reduce the amount of military guns you can find in-game.

These would come later in development, as this is unessential. Just something nice to have.

I think this was the plan. It makes no sense to only have very few military weapons, but I suppose there won't really be many weapons in the initial release for the SA.

I hope military guns are rarer and not found in fire stations. Civilian guns like the CZ550 and Makarov should be found in houses. Melee weapons should be found practically everywhere.

I've one question how rare is rare though?

I've no doubth at the start all items whether they be guns, food whatever will be rare but just how long do you think it will be till people have hoarded enough that they won't be rare??? Or do you think this won't happen and all items will stay rare????

If the loot chances are reduced it will obviously make it rare.

If you also add in the 'degradation' system to the weapons it means that there are multiple different ways for weapons to be removed from the game other than dying and having your body despawn.

Make them break, make the bullets stupidly rare, make the weekly drop rate of each items be weighted based on the amount found the previous week.

The amount of unbroken M4 in the game doubled? divide it's drop rate by two.

The better and more dedicated players get at finding specific high value gears, the harder they become to find, until they stop dropping entirely and the only way you can get one is to take it from someone else.

When the amount in circulation goes back down, it starts to spawn naturally again.

The degradation system is a way however could you not counter act that by replacing parts for said weapons? I don't know if thats going to be possible however if the degradation system is in then you should be able to counter act it.

reducing the drop rate is a good idea in principal however implementing it may be another idea althogether. Just thinking about maintaining a dynamic loot spawn chance, change synched across thousands of servers will introduce its own problems :)

I'm starting to wonder if I'm "hardcore" enough for the game.

I see loads of threads where people request to make certain loot a lot more rare.

In my opinion, this is not sth I want, since I once found a Bison-Gun and before I got used to it, I had to throw it away since I didn't found any ammo.

So whats the point in making things "really rare"?

Do you want to find a lot of throw away stuff?

I'd like to vote for more dfferent items. So that you have to use your brain, what you want to take with you and what not. A good mixture of rare and frequent items with a a very broad variety of different usage would be cool.

Don't see me to enjoy finding empty tin cans only.

Well all the tents, and player inventories are stored in the central hive, so the central hive (as it is set up right now) can in theory do analysis on it, daily or weekly and send to game servers "updated" loot tables.

I would honestly think if a zombie outbreak happened like in chernarus, the military would be ALL over the place. making military weapons common. Just makes more sense instead of a ill equipped soldier trying to stop an infection with no weapons at all.

its great that military weapons will be rarer, but ur right, they should not reduce the amount of different weapons, cause more weapon-choice is better than having about 10 different guns and just 2 of them being good at far distances or close combat etc. I hope they keep camoed snipers like the svd camo and "devices" like rangefinder and NVG. more > less :D

personally id like to have NVG bit more common cause i like playing when its night.

less military weapons would be boring....

cause we really want to run around a massive map with a boring shotgun.

I want rifles, machine guns new models and old models. More choice is sooo much better, than less weapons and them being rare...

I think the ability to strip and rebuild weapons would have to be something all players would have to learn in order to keep a combat capable weapon, and maybe making some of the "weapon mods" a little more applicable. For instance: Guns without rails, not exactly a whole bunch you can do in terms off attachments or addons, but what about more durable internals or a sling kit so when you shoulder your weapon your hands are free to hold something else.

And for the love of god, duct tape + 2 ak mags = faster reload.
