timedance 120 Posted April 5, 2013 (edited) I really wonder, why there are so many DayZ-clones out there... Dayz+, DayZ Mercenaries, DayZ2017 and last but not least DayZ ORIGINS..features found in ORIGINS:● Mining and house building: Mine and collect resources from the surrounding environment to Build upgrade and customize your home.● Survivor made Towns/Villages :. Survivors are now able to work together to claim lands and establishing their own buildings and houses together to form small villages or towns, exchange or trade resources.● Survivor’s decisions: Survivors now need to choose their path very carefully, heroic or banditry deeds will have direct impact on type of building upgrades and resources their homes produce.● Blueprints: Survivors can search and find rare blue prints that enable them to further enhance their homes with upgrades and Garages.● Keep thieves and intruders away: Survivors can add security to their own houses by finding batteries and adding digital locks to lock the doors of their houses and garages doors. If you look at all these mods, beside the orginal vanilla dayZ, they all have features, that are not allready in orginal dayz.Is the modding team of dayz so busy or whats up?These clones have features like "sleeping in tent"... "base building"... "making splint for broken bones"... "dogs"... etc...I really ask me why they are making more progress than orginal dayz ?? Inception. 9443 Posted April 5, 2013 Because the DayZ Standalone exists.
aussiestig 681 Posted April 5, 2013 They don't all fit the path that DayZ Mod is following. You can't just start throwing random things in from other mods.Base building is stupid. If you want base building, go play wasteland. Otherwise, wait for the SA when they actually sort out a decent way of base building.
timedance 120 Posted April 5, 2013 I know bear-traps and dogs was in talk sometimes... - but why are these features not inetgrated yet?
-Gews- 7443 Posted April 5, 2013 I really ask me why they are making more progress than orginal dayz ??If it ain't broken, don't fix it...Well actually there's a lot that needs to be fixed with the mod, but I don't want extra things polluting the "pure" experience. Leave that to the private hives. Not to bash private hives, a change of pace or new experience can be nice. They are definitely working on things.

ImageCtrl 719 Posted April 5, 2013 Not all changes are a progress. The progress atm is awesome btw. They fix the game and make small nice changes. Let Dayz+, DayZ Mercenaries, DayZ2017, origin etc go there own direction, it´s ok.
Giomanach 0 Posted April 5, 2013 you decide your endgame, ga make one.go pick up Bambi's on the coastline and create your own clan of fully armed bambi's.take over cherno or something XDyou can keep yourself entertained no problem.just like with minecraft, you have to look at what your options are.and then i mean not what you can do ingame, but how you can make it ingame more fun using means out of game (or a different playstylem, try being a Hero or a Roleplaying Bandit?) erbtype 5 Posted April 5, 2013 As an example, Origins already has it. Get the gear you need, build house. Make your house better depending on your level of banditry/heroism. Put your gear in the house and lock it down with a unique pin code. Build a garage, put your vehicle in, lock it down. Better than sticking a tent in a rock/under a lake etc.The way I see it is other people are trying things which are moving the game on, adding to it, keeping it fresh to an extent. That's a good thing. It also forces the DayZ devs and SA devs to up their game. Again, a good thing. You know, people keep saying 'wait for SA'. What are the odds we'll all be here in a year's time hearing the same thing? The window of opportunity won't be open forever.Base building is stupid. If you want base building, go play wasteland. liquidmind 320 Posted April 5, 2013 I really ask me why they are making more progress than orginal dayz ??The biggest part of the game is the engine. It decides what is possible and what isn't, how the performance will turn out and other stuff. The mods take weapons/vehicles/buildings that are locked, unlock them, and put them into the original dayZ; they adapt an existing map for the use with dayZ or they extend the original dayZ code by their own functionality or borrowed code from other arma 2 mods. Some of them were basically patchworks of several mods. Putting them together still requires time, work and know how, but it is not comparable in the slightest bit, with disassembling and rebuilding the whole engine, skeleton, weaponsystem etc. tl;dr: Because SA-Developers do things, Mod-Developers can only dream of. Changing the Engine.

narwaljunior 18 Posted April 5, 2013 (edited) Making a mod requires less effort than making a game(in most cases) since you have to set up the framework and you are actually creating things. Modders just change and manipulate the game, they can't reeaaly create anything totally "new".Also funny how Dayz mod is being modded, mod-ception. The window of opportunity won't be open forever. The longer we wait, more content will be added, and the game will be better. I'm fine with it not coming out for another year if it does mean we get a much better game.Right now there are huge fundamental flaws, such as the fact that the game is about killing other players, not surviving from zombies and working with other survivors. That is something that not a single one of these mods has fixed. DayZ mod is completely broken, and it will take a whole new game to fix that, not another rehash mod that claims to do it all differently.
