hackers. solution pay to play servers.

Recommended Posts

Please can we stop the hackers. If we can't stop people from hacking then we should just let pc gaming die. I can't justify the costs of upgrading my PC. The costs of my time and the money spent on games that are compromised.

Please do a little bit of research before you post something as useless as this.

If you had taken about ten minutes and read the devblogs on DayZ standalone, you would have known that the reason for the hacking is the engine, which is something that can't be changed by a mod. In the standalone, a custom engine is being made to prevent hacking. Also, if you had researched this, you would have known that the topic about hacking has been posted about three thousand times. Go here: http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/ for more info.

Yeah, no. That's just major overreacting.

Because there are no ways to hack the PS3, Xbox 360 or Wii, right? Consoles are totally impenetrable.

In case you don't get it, that's sarcasm. Forcing legitimate players to pay for the actions of hackers are what game companies are doing to legitimate players with DRM to stop pirates, and guess what? It just hurts legitimate players, and ruins games.

There will ALWAYS, ALWAYS be hackers EVERYWHERE. If you can't live with that, stick to board games.

I have been playing PC games since it's conception. New players, new decade same problems. Always something around the corner that will potentially solve said problem. Never does. If a hacker has to pay to join a server and gets banned he loses money and his debit card can be on a ban list.

Yes, but it also means that means it's extremely easy to set up a scam. If any server owner wants to make a quick buck, he can make people pay, then shut down the server and move the cash to a safe place.

Also, maybe videogames, at least online ones, aren't for you. If you seriously think gaming should die because there are some hackers. then you probably shouldn't be gaming in the first place.

Also, how do you explain games that rarely ever get hacked? Take WOW for instance. It rarely has any hackers aside from farming bots, which would be useless in other games. DayZ standalone will be using the exact same architecture as wow, which means that hacking will be on similar levels to WOW.

There's no perfect solution to hacking. It will always be a constant fight, and it will be everywhere. Consoles, PC's, phones, tablets; you name it, it will probably get hacked one way or another.

quite a few servers you can join that will provide you custom gear for a "donation". Go ahead and play on one of those and see what a terrible experience they are.

We have private hives for a reason (good free ones too), and if you feel the need to donate to them, go ahead...

Are you trying to suggest there is a forced action so ALL servers are pay to play? We are going to create an artificial business of server X offering this gun and server Y offering this gun? Next thing you know... you end up with servers offering random items to join like... The Men Of Balota Buddies - Speedo Calendar. I wonder who would make the cut...

Or they just start jacking people's bank details in addition to their CD-keys, and then they get free access to the game and servers, whilst legitimate players are once again forced to pay.

A kill cam can help catch hackers easier?

For the admins, maybe. But I seriously think we should wait and see how the new engine holds up against hackers first before we add in anything that could be exploited.

Good points, but..

I've cheated in many board games. Several times.

Most of the time I win without nobody having the slightest idea.

So I say this guy should not be playing games of any kind at all.

Hell, look at casinos or general PLAYING CARDS.

People will bluff, lie, peek and hide cards under the table, just so they can win you once.

But that was due to lack of attention on your opponent's part. No matter how attentive you are at a game, you can't say "Hey, you can't do that" to a hacker and thus render him unable to do it.

I read every thread, so I'll respond to people with any amount of posts. I don't feel it should be a rule in specific; instead, let's declare that a breach of common sense is a breach of the rules.

I can keep giving myself more money while playing monopoly no matter how much everybody else is bitching about it. The difference is, they have the capacity to just walk away instead of cry about it to their friends. (Implying to the forum in this case.)

My previous post was mostly meant to be the humorous kind, but I guess I kind of failed in that. >.>

Well, that's not really "cheating", if you're just grabbing handfuls of money from the bank and adding it to your own, that's just being a douche :L

PC gaming is a hobby...giving money away for it makes no sense...if you don't want to spend the money then you should "go console" with their expensive games.

ugh, Pay to Play? No, we are not all made of money

the amount to pay could be as low as like 10 cents a week.

the point is, a hacker would much likely not pay for the joy to annoy people, still enough f2p servers out there.

then again it could add extra grief potential because people might rage that they pay to play hackfree

and still get hacked - and grief is what most hackers are out for. but i think it's gonna work out in the long run.

i would pay as long as the price stays in cent range.

If it's such a low price, the only people you'll be keeping off the game are the people who can't manage to keep money in a bank account just to get into a server that should be free

Half of them paid for theor cheats in the first place. I don't think most hackers do it to 'grief' people, I think they do it because they want to be better at the game without actually having to be good at the game.
