The switch from console to PC

Recommended Posts

But Dayz and League of Legends have no equals. Welcome aboard.

I'm not a huge fan of MOBAs but IMO HoN and Dota 2 are a lot better than LoL. :)

Ah, PC Gamers. Such elitist. They don't want to tell you that FPS games are actually EASIER on PC than they are on consoles. But, I do love the longer draw distances! Especially on BF3.

Welcome, friend. A good sum of DayZ players are people who've seen videos on youtube and decided to buy an entire new PC, just to play this game. You'll get accustomed to controls within a week or two. I look forward to hearing your stories of vanquishing bandits and eating beans, huzzah!.

I only have around 37 brain cells left so I stay away from titles like HoN, Dota, or Starcraft.

Haha, fair enough mate. LoL can be a bit more forgiving!

@op say goodbye to all your free cash, but welcome to a different world. You'll flit twixt the two universes and I suspect will enjoy both.

I'm at least moderately sure you're trolling, but I'm intrigued, so I'll bite. How are they easier?

Wow! Thankyou everyone for all the replies, all advice graciously accepted and mucho appreciated

I will get on Steam as soon as I get my PC - I have booked a week off so I have plenty of time to register my account, get everything set up and practice with the mouse and keyboard.

My username on the Xbox630 is TG Rainman if anyone fancies a game on BF3 some time.

I will report back with progress my good fellows

He must be talking about the aim assist in all PC FPS games.

Oh wait nope, that's console - my bad.

The only advantage to using a mouse is the ability to quickly acquire a target since the mouse is a more accurate pointing device compared to joysticks.

Out of curosity what is the spec of the PC your getting?

Hi there!

Yes my good fellow - it shall be as follows (one or two components TBC but this is the basic idea)

Intel i5 3570k oc to 4.4ghz

Corsair 750w PSU

8 Gb Ram

Samsung 120Gb SSD

Seagate 1TB HD

GTX 670 OC EX 2MB (or possibly a GTX 660ti)

Cooling is TBC but either Corsair H60 or Mount Doom K2

The budget is somewhere £1300 - £1350.

Will be playing on my 32" 1080p TV. I am a n00b to the extent that, when our IT guy said you could play computers through your TV I was like "waaaaaaaaaahhhhhh?" :o

Hope this helps

Goose

That's what I thought he'd be getting at as well, but seeing as everyone else has the exact same setup, it's not exactly much of an advantage. Judging by the lack of response, I'm assuming it was just a hit-and-run trolling attempt.

That's a nice build mate, enjoy! :)

Why are you planning on playing on a 32" screen though? You'd be much better off playing on a small screen on a desk! :)

Been PC gamin' since 2001. Went to consoles around 2004-2005...those were the dark years. I saw the light and was reunited with PC gaming. I have never looked back nor bought a console since.

I am intrigued as to how this went? You all sorted for Day Z? I currently play on my 42 inch LED and am desperate for a proper PC Monitor as the input lag does make it somewhat difficult in a firefight on Day Z. Gotta wait a paycheck of two for it though...
