how do i join a server

Since the shut down of Gamespy I had untold problems getting into games via DayZ commander as it used Gamespy for matchmaking reasons Since this has now moved over to Steam, I use DayZ launcher which works with Steam launcher Not had a problem since http://dayzlauncher.com/
  2. To be honest since buying it I must have only played about 2hrs of it - Been very very busy with work On the whole, very impressed. I know many have had problems with freezing etc but on my rig it has been pretty much smooth with little lag but this could just be luck Enjoying being able to enter more buildings. Nearly shit myself 1st time seeing the shipwreck. Had no idea that was added to SA Been hanging around Berizino mainly Met many many other players, Only been murdered once by some bloke who said hello and them promptly put an shovel through my head All good fun Worth it at £19.99 - Do Bears shit in the woods?
  3. Thxs for the replies guys After reading the posts I have decided to purchase the prouct - Just bought and currently downloading Game may not be perfect for me but I am sure I will love it all over again and looking forward to that exploring and learning the game from scratch all over again One of my friends who is currently at work is asking for hourly updates on the game so might have a chum to die with Also, I got free mileage out of the Mod for a long long time and it is only fair that I help Dean with his new Opus - bit like a kickstarter :)
  4. Hi All Have done a search but could not find a thread of this nature so thought I would chance my luck If there are open threads like this one, please feel free to lock (only after directing me to the link though ;P) Been knocking about for some time on Dayz Mod and loved it. Loved the setting, Loved it all etc etc. Got some friends interested and most nights until the early hours we would be seen hunched over our PC's until our partners insisted we come to bed About 3 months ago I sort of fell out of love with the Mod. IMHO I felt the loot spawns were becoming a little bit too minimalistic and I missed the PvP that much of the mid-early days offered. I know some prefer the mod that way and fair play to them, it is a survival game after all and Rocket can build his masterpiece anyway he wants, but for me, I just lost a lot of excitement that brought me here in the 1st place. My friends also shared my feelings and one by one we all fell out of love with the Mod. Please note that we are not console gamers and we do not like, nor play Call of Duty so please, please do not come up with that old cliché. We loved the idea of survival but we wanted it with a bit more juice and as stated before, the reduction in loot gave us a lot of headaches. We were not campers. We did not sit on Camper Hill or hide somewhere near the NW airfield for 3 months shooting anything that moved. We were a friendly bunch who would have a giggle with players but if they got a bit agro towards us we would hold our own. What we enjoyed the most was just having fun with or without the Zombies. Some of us, myself included have moved over to the wasteland which we have enjoyed greatly but did not want that level of PvP. We have always had one eye turned towards the Mod because that's what brought us to Arma2 in the 1st place. A couple of times we have even toyed with the idea of coming back but we all talk each other out of it, but still we keep debating Standalone was released and all our eyes and ears pricked up as this was a project we all supported and wanted to invest in but we all keep wondering is it worth our time? This is where you guys come in who have invested your lives, and those of your children into StandAlone Not bothered by bugs and glitches - It's Alpha and like the Mod we had to be patient and work with the game not against it What I need to know is: What in your opinion has made the game worth the reduced Alpha price? What's new that is so much different from the Mod apart from modified weapons? Is a 'sensible' level of PvP in the game and what are loot spawns like now and expected to be as game gets patched? Thxs in advance

    Best wireless controller for PC

I see SkyL is repeating his foolish endeavours But back on topic I don't think my MB is Bluetooth but I will check but the idea of a USB Bluetooth adaptor is sounding good right now. I don't own a PS3 but if the controller is decent, I'm happy to spend a few quid on one of its controllers. Unfortunately the PC is just a little too far away to be able to play with cabled joypad which is a shame because I love this Logitech Rumble Pad 2 - So comfy and responsive The Saitek looks too much like an Xbox controller for my taste and I have never really got on too well with those Thanks for the ideas lads

    Best wireless controller for PC

@ Max - I have been looking at that and it looks quite good - any confirmed dates for release yet? @ Skyl - What I do enjoy is seeing pointless posts on this site which attempt to be funny but in fact make the poster sound like a fool and add little value to the thread. Had you been a little more constructive with your post and pointed out why I must have issues and need to return to a console (of which i have not bought since PS2 days) then it would have carried some form of weight Not every game on PC is point and click or First Person Shooters which keyboard and mouse is perfect for. Some of us like to play other games which allow more flexibility on controls which keyboard and mouse struggle to deliver. An example of this is both Pro Evolution Soccer and Fifa along with other sports games. The world does not revolve around keyboard, mouse or even Dayz. Don't be a snob Obviously I must be a COD script kiddie because I want to use a controller - shame on me
  7. Hi All At the moment I am using a wired logitech rumble pad 2 controller for PC but really want a wireless one so I can play most games on my big TV in the lounge (PC is in my lounge). I have been looking at a few options but not really too sure which is best. What I do know is that I would want to keep the style of the controller like the rumble pad 2 as I do find Playstation style controllers much more user friendly than the Xbox equivalents. Should I be looking to buy a PS3 wireless controller? Is it easy to set up on PC or are there know issues? Any input would be appreciated Many thanks

ARMAII OA / DayZ Crash on Start Up

Could be registry is causing the problem. Seen this before on another PC. Me and a friend spent 2 days trying to fix problem. In the end we formatted computer and reinstalled OS and then Arma 2 + OA / DayZ. Only after doing this did it work Bit extreme I know but after the 2 days we had trying to fix the problem, a half day of reinstalling the computer was easy - remember to back up files if you do this :) Again, can't promise that this will work in your scenario Did you run a registry cleaner after you uninstalled?

    Computer crashes only on Dayz

Thank you for advice h3l1x We disabled shadows but still crashed so we are looking at possible overheating here I think. Arranged to go to brothers soon to sort and put on new heat sink and monitor temps to isolate problem
  13. Hi All Hoping you can help me with something which is confusing the F*** out of me About a month ago I built my brother a new PC. Been building them for the last couple of years with no problems but this one is giving me a bit of a headache. SPEC'S i5 3470 Quad Gigabyte HD 7850 OC AMD/ATI Graphics - 2GB 4GB DDR3 1600 MHZ Corsair 600w PSU Windows 7 - Home Premium - Retail Version ARMA 2 + ARMA 2 OA downloaded Via Steam DayZ downloaded, installed and played via Dayz Commander - ARMA 2 + DayZ both patched to the latest versions Dayz played on 'High' settings' PC linked to monitor via HDMI cable from graphics card PC has not been overclocked in any manner - everything on stock speeds The problem arises after about 20 minutes of game play..The PC will completely crash and force a restart. This crash can happen anywhere in the game, whether my brother is in the woods or in a city like Cherno. I tried to eliminate the obvious by getting my brother to completely uninstall ARMA 2 + ARMA 2 OA and Dayz + DayZ commander and complete fresh install to see if it was any corruption of files which could have caused this. Unfortunately this has not solved the problem. We have also uninstalled the graphics card driver and installed the latest driver via the AMD website - still same problem. I got my brother to play Dayz on a lower graphic setting like normal or low but still crashes. My brother last night mentioned that he felt the computer was running a little warm (by feeling the case). Problem for me is that my brother lives about 100 miles away so I can not feel the case myself so I am unsure if what he is talking about is normal heat from the case or if we do have an overheating problem. The next suggestion I am going to give my brother is to take side panel of computer case to allow more air into the computer and play Dayz and see if we have the same problem. The case we used for the build is the Cooler Master Elite 430 Black Mid Tower, recommended to me due to the extra airflow this case can give. One concern I had in building with this case was the fact that the PSU sits at the bottom of the case just below the graphics cards and I was concerned re hot air combining in close proximity. I think I will have to go to my brothers to sit at the PC when this crash happens but I was looking for some ideas if anyone else has had either similar problems with the same spec's or just similar problems generally and how they fixed it. At the moment the processor has stock fan on it and I am looking to replace that with a superior one so this could solve problem I would like to make clear that this crash only happens on DayZ. My brother does play a variety of games for long periods of time with no problems and the computer is generally used most the time, again with no crashes. I understand that ARMA 2 is a very intensive game both on the processor and the GPU so this may be the reason for crash but I can not imagine that the Spec's of the PC struggle with the game. Also, can anyone link to me a good temperature monitoring program so when I do go over I can monitor what heat the computer and graphics is at while playing game. Thanks in advance for any help and happy hunting :)
