You would probably bleed out before the missing limb could be sewn back on. You would need a lot more than one bandage to stop the bleeding.

Tourniquets are what you'd need.

I think with the revised medical/injury system more field-medic practices should be included as standard.

Heal-all bandages and leg-fixing morphine are not in keeping with the theme of authenticity DayZ aims for.

I wouldn't like to venture into the area of Quake gibs, but something more than a simple retexture on death would be appreciated, I'm sure.

I like the idea of losing limbs due to explosions, gunshots, being run over by a car, etc. But sewing them back on? Maybe if you had a certain time period you must preform the operation in with the right medical supplies (Morphine, anti-biotics, LOTS OF BANDAGES).

I'm all for realistic gore/damage/shock etc, but let's keep it in the vague realms of realism (*cough* infected).

I want gore and dismemberment in DayZ but not the ability to just sew an arm or leg back on. If you were to get your arm/leg/hand/etc shot off, chances are that body part would be way to screwed up to sow back on. I'm not someone who has had experience with seeing limbs being shot off, or watching videos with it happening, but from what I know about guns, there are some guns that would completely blow a limb to pieces. The AS50 would completely destroy a limb. The bullet kind of breaks into pieces when it hits something like a shotgun shell breaks into many small pieces. That .50 round would leave little to none left of a limb.

Not all bullets are able to do that but .50 rounds sure as hell can. As I stated earlier, we shouldn't just be able to sow limbs back on. There needs to be make shift pegs and things to replace limbs.
