Wondering your opinions...

Hey guys! i just found out about this awesome game, have been playing arma 2 for a week or so (free version) and have been strongly considering buying it. The only thing holding me back is many people i hear are having problems with getting "globally banned for no reasons"? This worried me and I wouldn't want to be throwing my money away to play this game and have the same problem happen to me. I am not going to be modding or doing anything like that, just enjoying the game how it should be played. If I am to buy this, what would decrease my chances of this "ban for no reason" happening to me.

Not using scripts or hacks. Typically global bans are for running something your not suppose to. Very rarely does a global ban happen for the hell of it. If it does, you can appeal your case with BattleEye.

This does not exist

You are only banned if you cheat or if you allow your key to be stolen and then it is used to cheat by someone else.

The majority of us have never been banned.

If you are the type to cheat then don't risk it.

Ok great! :) I've been looking for people who would say not to worry, but got overwhelmed and starting rethinking when everywhere i searched it was talking about ppl getting "banned for no reason". I'm not the type to cheat, but is there any advice you guys can give me about keeping my key safe?

Don't download any 3rd party software related to DayZ. The only 3rd party program that I would recommend using to enhance your DayZ experience is DayZ Commander.

Hackers often claim they were banned for no reason in a naive attempt to get us to lift their bans, which we have no power over. Get the game, enjoy it and don't hack and you'll have no issues at all. Have fun.

After reading a bit more on this, I cant remember exactly where I got my arma download from. (youtube link) I am just trying to make sure it is legit, should I restore my computer to be totatlly sure there is nothing that will steal my key saved on here? Or delete all my arma files and reinstall when i buy the game and dl from the arma site this time?

Dont download any sort of "performance enhancer" or "optimizer"

Dont script

Dont hack

Dont give out your CD-key...

And you will be fine.

if your copy is not legit and you have used a "crack", then the keylogger may already well be installed...

I downloaded the free copy from steam. This is where the youtube link directed me. I was unaware at the time that you needed to purchase the combined operations, or operations arrow in order to use dayz. I downloaded a dayz zipped file, which i deleted off my computer after realizing i couldnt use it. I am just hoping the zipped files which I deleted didn't have anything. There isn't a way to make sure I already don't have something that will take my key? or am I just being paranoid? :X

Very, very, very occasionally, there will be a false global ban. But, you can make an appeal to Battleye.

it's really simple. You wont hack so you wont be banned. Majority of ppl saying that they were banned for no reason, are guys using hacks crying because of ban.

Hey jgonzo,

Short answer: don't worry about it.

Long answer: You can still play DayZ with the free "light" version of arma 2, somehow. Or so I heard. So that's not a cause for concern.

If for some reason your CD key is not legit, you won't be banned. You just won't be allowed to play. Either way, you couldn't play, so what's the difference? The bans only happen for executing hacks. I have never heard of anyone being accidentally banned, btw. Maybe it happens all day long, but I'd never know, and there'd be no way to prove they _weren't_ hacking, so in summary... see the short answer above.

Don't download anything except for the mod and arma 2 CO. Then you won't get banned
