DayZ standalone - Finding crutches

Hi!

I have been thinking about things that would be awesome to see in standalone.

One of them is, crutches.

I know we have morphine but crutches should be super rare and you could put them in your backpack whenever you want.

They should be able to be found in any hospital but a they should be kind of rare.

Another thing that would be cool would be weel chairs.

Why?

This is why:

1) Works like crutches but you don't lose stamina as quick.

2) Wouldn't it be hilarious to see someone roll down from a mountain in super high speed in a wheel chair? :lol:

The medical system is being completely revamped and we aren't sure how things will work in the standalone yet. There's probably already a replacement for morphine as the 'cure' for broken bones though.

I don't see it being very useful. Why hobble around on crutches or wheel chair when you've got morphine or some other means to heal yourself to a 100%. I see this as not much more than a novelty idea that would be funny once or twice. However, expanding on the crutches, I would like the idea of making a hasty cane or crutch out of a branch or something for those moments when you fall out of a tree stand or get hit by a car. So if you're 10 km off from the nearest hospital, it's not the long miserable crawl all by your lonesome.

Splints are all you need, short term solution till you find morphine or whatever alternative rocket has in store. So chop some tree apart use your hunting knife and maybe some string then you have a nice comfy splint, obviously movement is affected to a slow hobble but that adds to the whole DayZ immersion.

Crutches? Ehhh... I think most players would just jump off a cliff and run back to their gear at that point. Morphine fixing a broken leg isn't ideal either, though.

Could we tie an AR to the crutch so if you need to you can drop prone and pop shots.

Crutches are horrific things. After 6 weeks of them now I really don't think I'd take too kindly to having them in game. :P

Have you tried pushing a wheelchair through field? I have and it sucks. It'd be quicker to roll on your side or wait for continental drift to take you to your location.

As for crutches, I'd prefer makeshift splints which I have a hunch they will include in the SA as a craftable item.

back to topic: i once already suggested crutches, just for the simple fact that you would use it when you would have broken legs. you could at least walk upright (see possible threats and move way faster) and relieve the pain; which brings me to my "useless" junk thread...

I think crutches would require a lot of work (new mocapped anims ect.) so I really think splints are the best answer, although I guess that'd require a limping action too :/

Yeah, and I have a feeling that they would look slightly ridiculous.

I'm pretty sure I've seen wheelchairs in game already though. Maybe not vanilla but in some mod somewhere. :)
