a while back I had brought up the idea of the lazy sniper getting fat cuz all he does is drive to and from his favorite spot, lay on the ground and eat beans all day. It was quickly pointed out that no one lives long enough to get fat. But yeah my ears did perk up when i heard that.

I would not be against some benefit to the player who legs it everywhere instead of driving around all the time.

reality would be, that such a world would be so cruel and unforgiving you would fight against starvation rather than obesity...unless there would already have been some form of society reestablished i guess.

Is an average life long enough? Well, in the mod, possibly not although there are many people that survive for weeks by staying out of trouble but due to the lack of content in the mod that can be pretty boring. My hope (and I think the aim for the devs) is that in the SA there'll be so much more to do that if you are just a player that wants to avoid others and/or conflict there will be a lot more depth and things to keep it interesting for you.

In the mod, once you get the hang of the basics there really isn't much left for you to do apart from engaging other players, in the SA this will be a very different story (I hope).

This.

Btw, I like these raw, "thrown-together" video blogs. I see them as a way to quickly touch base with the players/fans. Besides, if you posted a polished, professionally-produced "behind the scenes" mini-documentary each go 'round, people would bitch that you should be expending that effort on the game instead. Cheers...

Couldn't agree more

It was a bit to raw imo, they should of at least let the guys know the questions first, so we got some answers instead of silence at times. Raw footage with questions over dubbed would of been better imo. Still it was great seeing more of the map.

I'm not impressed by the video though, I think it was poorly done, and I dunno you came off like too protective over your own work. Really I'd like to see a more natural video where you're just having a play session....

Just give it that Frankie1080p guy and that 5hizzle twitch TV guy and watch them play on the same server with other people like TB and Yogscast, it would be more fun having a video series like that, where they stumble upon new features instead of having them forced.

There is a reason for them seeming protective. THEY ARE BEING PROTECTIVE!

They are at a point in dev, where they don't want to show a feature that is not ready and put off customers .

That is why they said in the blog update the inventory system might be ready for next update.

You will have people streaming the game when the game is ready to be streamed. Geez some people need the world and the moon to be satisfied.

i think what hes getting at it seemed in the video that the people who were with rocket were either new to dayz ie minecraft man or really wernt intrested in what was going off.

people will understand that there is a nda or maybe rocket told them not to mention much while recording who knows but the video didnt translate much fun. so i would for the next one infuse a bit more fun into it and banter.

people dont mind raw footage either its better than set up videos farmed out by every big youtuber anyway.

Here's a question I have after watching a bit of the video again:

It's mentioned that the wrecked vehicles will have doors and boots that open and close... Will they be able to provide cover - meaning can I open a door to provide extra cover from enemy fire? And will the regular vehicles also have opening and closing doors that could be used the same way?

Hello there

I wouldn't expect a door to provide any cover against anything but the lowest powered (think air pistols) weapons. Bullets and bolts are quite "penetratey".

If you want cover from the thin metal of a car stand near the engine block.

Cool, your gonna be riddled with every disease out there.. Plus shooting people will potentially be damaging the loot you're after using the new system, that's what I'm looking forward to, proper consequences for different styles of play, lovely.

Great advice but...

Miss-spent youth story you're dying to tell us?

Please tell me you have survived a police shoot-out :D

Or too much tv? :(

loved the intro really looking forward to seeing the new inventory system, the only thing I kinda worry about is the fact the zombie's seem to follow so close making it seem impossible to turn and shoot without getting hit now getting hit once oh well thats fine but if I have like 5 or more on me and I can't turn and shoot with getting hit then I'm dead and I feel like that might become a problem but idk I'd have to try it out for myself

I think they still have a lot of work to do with it, that was just an early demo of what they're up to.

ooo not TV, following TV advice will get you killed.

I would like vehicles etc to have different penetration values depending on location though and remaining mostly intact rather than them just brewing up after a few hits.

I also dislike "map only" artifacts like burned out cars which are immovable and static. But I'm sure there's a good technical reason behind them.

We need the Left 4 Dead Zombie Spawning AI but with static map objects on server restart. Wait, do public hives even restart? It's been so long.

Come to think of it, I am asking for too much I know but it would be epic to have the model lose their arms/legs and other body parts when you shot at them.

weeeel, I mean if the flesh is half-decomposed I'd imagine it is less attached to bone. I imagine shooting couple of bullets in a leg would easily rip the leg off

I was watching some Syrian gunfight on Liveleak and one guy was shot with an ak in mid-arm and half of the arm was just hanging on some skin there so I'd imagine it would do the same to a zombie.

Wait, so a 50 Caliber Anti Material Rifle Round into the arm of person and it taking the arm off isn't rally realistic?

I'd say a pistol wont rip your limb off, but a rifle caliber in a joint will do for sure. I watched a lot of Syrian gunfights and people who were wounded had their body parts smashed into bits from those AK's.
