jaytmuk (DayZ) 621 Posted March 3, 2013 Thought maybe for hardcore servers it would be more a challenge to omit the wording of where you have spawned upon login/spawnWhat think?Maybe just hardcore servers so the moobs can still play in comfort on moob servers :P
Maloney (DayZ) 26 Posted March 3, 2013 Good idea, your location should be stated on regular servers, on hardcore however they should not.
Target Practice (DayZ) 1335 Posted March 3, 2013 (edited) I don't really see what this would achieve - it could easily be worked around by just writing down your approximate position before logoff, or simply by being able to read a map, which all but the newbiest of newbies should be able to do. If you're playing on hardcore mode, then you should probably be able to read a map. :PIt wouldn't really hurt any though, I guess - you could make it a server-switchable thing where individual hives can decide whether they want to do it or not. BwobBwub 660 Posted March 3, 2013 Wait... why are you calling noobs, moobs? :D
*Exile* Sami 188 Posted March 3, 2013 I think this would be a great idea, and the hardcore players would love it, but in complete honesty they would also have to change out the spawning locations because most experienced dayz players can just look around them and instantly know where their at, well, at least i can.
Clumzy (DayZ) 377 Posted March 3, 2013 I don't really see what this would achieve - it could easily be worked around by just writing down your approximate position before logoffThis is more about when you first spawn.or simply by being able to read a map, which all but the newbiest of newbies should be able to do. Ratsmon 131 Posted March 3, 2013 This is more about when you first spawn. Why would that help? On most hardcore servers you can't see yourself on a map.I think he meant understanding your surroundings, by orienting yourself using streets, towns, hills and knowing where your aprox. pos. is :|After a while you get used to knowing the places anyways.
Target Practice (DayZ) 1335 Posted March 3, 2013 This is more about when you first spawn. So that's why the title of the thread says login/spawn? ;)Why would that help? On most hardcore servers you can't see yourself on a map....when did I say anything about seeing yourself on the map? I was talking about reading your map and actually working out where you are. Clumzy (DayZ) 377 Posted March 3, 2013 So that's why the title of the thread says login/spawn? ;)Because while it would be removed from both, it would mainly affect your first spawn.
thejarofflies@gmail.com 12 Posted March 3, 2013 I agree with the OP, and would like to add that at least on hardcore servers would be cool if you would not spawn on beach but instead in a forest.I think it would be more disorienting, because pretty much all forests looks exactly the same, and it could take a while until you figure out where you are.You would actually have to find some place that you recognize or some signpost to figure out where you are.So it would be harder to just spawn after you died and run to you corpse to retrieve the loot. When you spawn at the beach even if you don't already recognize where you are (by some cranes or towns) you pretty much know where north is, and the rest is easy.

Ratsmon 131 Posted March 4, 2013 I would love to spawn sometimes like 2-3 km of Stary Sobor in a forrest. Doesn't matter which direction, it would be nice rather than every time walking 6 km to get some decent loot.
CreepySalad 108 Posted March 4, 2013 Why keep it on any server? This game is supposed to make people feel uncomfortable.

Doesn't matter which direction, it would be nice rather than every time walking 6 km to get some decent loot.Yap it would make more sense if player start spawns would be all over the map ( in the wilds that means) Without having a map etc it could be a nice challenge to find out where you are... mzltv 2281 Posted March 4, 2013 I, personally, really enjoy the little BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP at the start, when the text rolls along. This should be a server-side preference though, as said before, it'd definitely make the game more hardcore for those servers aiming for realism. However, unless the spawn locations aren't randomised a little more (as in the spawn location isn't strictly fixed to one point), it seems quite pointless removing them.
