Capturing Live Players

its really fun taking people hostage but right now its you cant really do that easily. so why not have some tools to help?

hand cuffs, i mean this would make it so you could capture people and hold on to them more easily. only way to get em out of cuffs is keys, death(respawning) or a buddy with a hatchet (takes several minutes to take it off though without a key) (quick to put on somebody) (semi rare)

twist ties, same thing as a hand cuff except a person without an axe can simply take it off. (very quick take off) (longer time to put on person) (common)

tranquilizers. rifles, handguns ect ect. knocks people out for... 10 mins with side effects after waking up like slower walking, blurred vision, gun movements when aiming down sights ect. this way heroes dont necessarily have to kill people. and tranquilizers take effect after 5 seconds then the person passes out. so you cant just run into a building with a handgun loaded with this crap and knock somebody out. also long reload time for each individual dart. like a cross bow.

the tranquilizer gun would be basically silent except if its fired from a rifle since they use blanks. (correct me if im wrong on that) or if they are airpowered.

i think this idea would be easy to implement and would be awesome and fun to use. it would be helpful for confrontations for heros that dont want to kill people and for prisoners you want to keep alive.

I only capture dead players... I wouldn't mind a tranquilizer gun, but I know jack all about them. They'd have to make it realistic, maybe the resident exotic animal handlers can tell us more about the various models and their effective ranges, accuracy, potency, etc. No tranquilizer rounds fired from your Makarov, please.

generally they use tranqs on specific animals based on weight so they dont kill them or whatever. so they get the right amount in the needle to take out an animal so there is no second shots really. that being said it would be 1 round per reload and that would be a direct chamber reload so it would be slower. naturally the needle is slower when in the air and heavier than a bullet so you would probably have to be in relatively close distance, at least with a pistol. a rifle might be as good as 300m but the delay would be long.

also you would need to find needles and the actual medicine to make the ammo.

well i could think of something like this but on a much smaller scale.

This could work like this:

When someone is cuffed/tied up a timer would define the "state of security" (e.g. firmly, loosly, fress). So you'd always have to check if your hostage ins't already just loosly tied (e.g. right click at hostage..). This also means that the hostage would be released when left alone somewhere after the timer has run out, or the hostage-taker wouldn't be attentive enough.

Idea behind: hostages wouldn't get too frustrated and simply log off, as there is always a chance of breaking free and be released after some time when left behind, respectively.

Another just-for-trolling idea.

No point in a theorical RL zombie apocalipse to takes hostages.

For what? money? chernarus independence?. No, just for trolling.

Just like the "poisoning lakes" idea.

And satchel charges, and UAVs, and artillery attcks... (not ironic, peoplehad actually requested those things in the forum).

I cannot understand why anybody would like to take the initial dayz mature idea and convert it in an all cheats activated bf3.

Problem is, 90% of the time the kidnapped player would just disconnect.

I'd let someone kidnap me just to make things interesting.

really it would make sense for PVP. think about that way that maybe some are more likely to tie one up to gain a headstart, instead of killing one, in the process of a raid/ambush.

ehhh, i think you should be able to manually decide how much is in the needle. not at set options like that. that way you could kill somebody if you wanted to or sedate them.
