gemellus 77 Posted February 26, 2013 In the DayZ mod, USMC helicopters are piloted by british pilots carrying chernarussian soldiers....lol?What I'm suggesting are that the gear and zombies are tied to the type of heli crash. The nice thing is that all of the materials are already modeled due to existing in ARMA II and it's X-packs. It also adds diversity and allows the player to pretend they are a former soldier or foreign peacekeeper.a ) Chernarussian-most common type of crash site-Crashed Mi-8-can find Chernarussian camo, helmets and low to medium grade eastern weaponry, gas masks, and other gear (AK-74s, AKS-74u, Saiga-12 etc)b )Russian-second most common, due to Chernarus being on the Russian border-Crashed Mi24-can find motorized rifle camo, helmets, more modern eastern bloc rifles and even Spetznatz Doo rags ( :o)c ) US (Army/Marines)-Crashed Blackhawk/Huey-easiest way to find ACUPAT/MARPAT gear, western weaponryd ) British-Crashed Merlin or Chinook-Can find DPM camo and helmets, L85A2 etc (only place to find these)-British gas masks as well, for those of us who want to scream in direct chat "GEHT AWAY FROM THUH BAUDY"e ) UN-I really have no idea, but some light blue helmets would be nice
Auslovich 48 Posted February 26, 2013 Love this idea, would be great if this were implemented into SA.

shadowleaper 22 Posted February 26, 2013 Mi gusto. I think this would be great in SA, but the gear should look more worn and maybe even ripped and burnt. That way you can distinguish from the regular army gear you'd find around and make you more unique. Maybe even have it like a collection thing like a crash will only drop so much of one type so you look for more of the same type of crash etc.
Draco122 412 Posted February 26, 2013 Brits were never in Chernarus...And yet the L85A2 a common british assault rifle is found at Helicopter crash sites...
thesodesa 99 Posted February 26, 2013 My question is: why are there crash sites in the first place?Surely the infection doesn't manifest itself so quickly that a soldier bearing it would have made it onto a chopper heading off to Chernarus. Especially since it affects brain functions, wouldn't their colleagues have noticed that something was off before they headed off?
God Dan 62 Posted February 27, 2013 There are many reasons for a heli to crash. No one said the pilots have to be infected, lemme give some examples:Ex. 1: maybe they ran out of fuelEx. 2: Maybe they took a zombie on the chopper, not knowing the nature of the disease.Ex. 3: Maybe several countries were blaming eachother for this infection and a WWIII broke out. That would explain various nationalities' crashes.
q1p0 7 Posted February 27, 2013 Doesn't NATO have interoperability in terms of equipment in case of war? Also the backstory may change and may not be the same as Arma.
-Gews- 7443 Posted February 27, 2013 Doesn't NATO have interoperability in terms of equipment in case of war? Also the backstory may change and may not be the same as Arma.I doubt Chernarus is a NATO member seeing as the CDF's standard rifle is the AK-74. The backstory may change in the Standalone... Andx667 7 Posted February 27, 2013 two things:first, i assume chopper crashes are ingame to providea bit of uncertainty and a thing to search for. they contain the "best" (whatever thta means for the individual) weapons ingame. they add another "goal" and a huge amount of variety and replayability.second: i would like to see german chopper crashes ;) g36 and its varients are already ingame. and germany also uses hueys.
