1.7.6 Cans and Drinks

Recommended Posts

The mod references are kinda cool but they aren't exactly...subtle. There should be mod-named food but the names should make a bit more sense and they shouldn't be as obvious. Also, what on earth are canned muffins? They're the only real thing that I find "immersion-breaking" in the new canned stuff.

Japan. You can get them in Japan.

I don't usually post on the forums, I just read through stuff. But I have to say:

I really like the new cans. I love the names. It doesn't break anything. It's a nice salute to all the mods. It wasn't done 'instead of fixing bugs'.

I only don't like all the people who are whining about some really awesome community made content, which is totally awesome free work done by voluntary people! These contributors are awesome.

I have one question: does anyone know what respect is?

Ps. Sniped page 15

The issue is rather than pushing this all on us, maybe a better route would have been adding one or two things, judging the community reaction then adding more in.

Yes I accept the point but we can't do it with everything otherwise to implement one thing fully it would take a vast amount of time, the reason DayZ was possible was because we took risks, we will continue to do that, it won't always work out and in those instances we can try and fix it.

Well, if you asked the comunity in advance if they want food named after mods, than you would get a clear answer and would save somebody from wasting the time it took to create those new cans.

Get it?

Yes I do, but again if we voted on everything we wanted to do with the mod we would still only have one server in New Zealand with pretty much nothing here.

wow 21 pages long of the initial thread everyone was amazed by the cool idea of seeing these things ingame...then all hell broke loose with some claiming nobody wants them to see ingame...

edit: 21 pages long no one said "eww what the hell?" see maybe this was the reason no one bothered to implement these into the game. everyone was quite excited back then...

I bet if the patchnote just said :

-Introduced texture variety (canned food, soda etc...)

people claiming immersion breaking would'nt have even noticed it.

Anyway, I'm quite astonished by the over reaction.

Voting should only be a voluntary action. Voting is a democratic right and would be completely ass-backwards if it were forced upon people against their will.

Well on the other hand it is forced upon my will to wait before i can disconect? Or was.

Nobody cared about my will.

I think people are overreacting, but I'm just a forum mod. It's a interesting nod to the forum staff, however I still don't see the need to be upset over it as it's a content update with more food to divide and include, as well as variety. But hey, it's more leaning towards the community this DayZ Mod.

(And I didn't even get included.)

I think most of the over reaction comes from the majority of the players who dont think its realistic, and thats a shame.

It mainly all comes down to opinion what people need to realize is that these names take nothing away from core elements of the mod/game.

Its a sad day when the sheep turn on the shepard.

ps: any food with the name Legacy in it would have been shit hot =p

The "overreaction" is because we have been getting progressively more pissed off by the arrogance of people in this topic completely blocking any negative opinion out.

There were bugs fixed, but there needs to be a healthy balance otherwise people will then complain that there has been no new content. Invariably though a few of the significant bugs can't be fixed due to the mod being a mod. As A Lumberjack points out the work on the cans was done by an outside source so took very little time away from fixing bugs and such.

Considering a health number of servers either didn't get updated to 1.7.5 or were and subsequently rolled back to 1.7.4.4. due to problems, don't you think speeding up the release of the update to purely focus bug fixes instead of delaying it to introduce new content as well would have been the wiser route to take?

And you base that claim on what?

That is pure speculation and exaggeration, lets take a vote to see if comunity agrees with that :P

Just let it go, man. What's done is done. Nobody is serving themselves well here by continuing this endless debate.

just some examples from real world:

http://thewondrous.c...and-names-ever/

now I just want 1 ...1 single person that says the implemented names are immersion-braker!

edit: or my personal favorite

Japan. You can get them in Japan.

But I thought Chernarus was an imaginary place in Soviet Russia D: . If we can get Japanese food, they should give us Toyotas too instead of these crappy Soviet cars B) .

Well considering the Skins and models were done by an outside source, and then adding them in takes literally less than 45 minutes its not like they took a HUGE amount of time out of fixing the mod ?

The "overreaction" is because we have been getting progressively more pissed off by the arrogance of people in this topic completely blocking any negative opinion out.

You mean instead of Bitching about how a label you can barely read will ruin your game forever, pretty low considering that move pays homage to the people that made and support the game you enjoy so much.

I read through it, and only saw few people getting personal, i saw misinformations and people getting corrected for it, and taking it as bashing.

Its the sheer quantity of the adds, the silliness of the names and the obvious reasons for them. People generally don't take to well to people's ego when it gets out of control. Had Rocket added Rocket Cola to the game people would say that's cool. Adding four to five times as many items as was already in game and making stupid names for them is what has people in an uproar. There is no denying that many, many times on this forum mods have acted like selfish children in giving out warning points or closing threads. Mods here are not just users and when you have that responsibility you have to act like it. Some of them do not act like adults and its insulting to see their names in game. It adds insult to injury when you have broken things that have been there since 1.7.5.1 that causes servers to run previous patches and here comes a new patch that ignores those issues while piling on useless crap. Save that kind of stuff until the end when you actually have a reason to celebrate.

Once again, I've said repeatedly there are other ways to honor the staff. Just like I've said you don't even read posts that oppose your views.

Chernarus is real though, so...

I think everyone should chill about the food and crap, take a step back and think about it. Are the labels really that much of an immersion breaker? Over all the things you choose to call "Immersion breaker" you choose labels. What about the zombies walking through stuff? Or how about the zombies hitting through walls, or the fact that the hackers have the ability to turn themselves into animals and talk like a human being.

Seriously guys, it's not that big of a deal compared to the other things and I see no reason why everyone should begin being hateful and unreasonable. Just let it go, it's not worth the frustration and anger...

You don't get it! The problem I was referring to wasn't the new cans per se, it's the new additions introduced to the patch over and above bug fixes to a previous dodgy patch.

I fail to see how the new cans will break immersion. Couldn't be worse than 3rd person or having cross-hairs, way-points, and or nameplates enabled.

It's just because this is readily accessable, issues like zombies glitching through walls has been addressed by the devs, and they say it would result in a significant loss of FPS to fix it. I'd rather tackle the small battles we can see results for than have the devs move into something more significant like that.
