Traders and Traitors

So I have noticed that trading became quite common these days, so i figured some kind of list of player that are to be trusted or not would be helpful.

Obviously you can never be sure even with a list but it does help to have some kind of detail on the person you're going to meet in the middle of the forrest.

It realy is a simple idea, you traded with mr.xxbeans? post it here, if the trading went well, post it, the trade went bad? even better, post it here.

It will take sometime for the list to be usefull, but with your coorpration and patience it is possible.

For the time being I believe using the forum names should be more credible than ingame names

I'll demonstrate what is in my mind:-

I had a succesfull trade with Nirvana620 so iill add his name to the list with +1

But what happens if another user says Nirvana ambushed him? then we give him a -1 so he has one succefull trade and one who turned bad. and so we have one positve score and one negative score.

if another play came and had the same exprience with nirvana his name will apear with +1 -2

and so the score keeps going on. in this case for example trading with nirvana would be dangerous, but if mr.beens had +9 and no negative score at all, he would be almost a sure trade.

TL;DR - HIGH GREEN- GOOD

HIGH RED(actually since its negatve..nevermind) - BAD

In order to increase or decrease "credibility" adding a positive score or adding a negative one, can be made only with users above 15 posts.

Obviously there are a lot of flaws so i am open to suggestions or feedbacks no need to be polite :D

*A special thanks belongs to Fraggle for fixing our script limitiation problem by sacrificing himself, yes you read it right, he sacrificed his own post for our sins enabling me to split the thread into two posts. we all should be thankfull and show him that by eating his body and drinking his blood every sunday.

*Update in the method has been made, credit goes to Zeichef, for pointing out the flaw and suggesting an upgraded method.

Basicaly this method "prevents" people from turning bad after having a high positive score becuase even after a -1 it would still stay positive, so this way a negative score would still have its impact although if a guy had +9 , and then someone filed a complaint on him, this complaint would rather seem to have low credibility.

I think your on to a good idea here DancingBear. Sort of like the medic whitelist. Since we dont have any in game tools to figure out how to do this kind of thing a forum list might be able to work. I wish you luck, this game needs more community building ideas like this.

This guy wanted to trade antibiotics for a m24.

I did need any antibiotics nether did i own an m24 so i did the next best thing.

I asked him to donate the antibiotics to any white-listed medic and in return i would give a spare as50!

He walked in the barn were we asked him to go.

We had a bunch of ppl lying around in bushes around the barn as well as a couple of Satchel charges placed in the barn :P

Everything did however go smooth and there were no sign of any hostility :)

(also saved my ass as i had run to NE airfield with weaponry in bag to show i meant no harm)

The list wont work with clans, only standalone users, and if you did mean a user, then my apology but i did not find any such user in the forums.

Needed NVGs and was willing to give 2 boxes of antibiotics and 4 frag grenades for them.

We met, he gave me a blood transfusion AND the NVGs for FREE and didn't take anything in return and logged off. I said thanks and 'faith in humanity: restored' and he said 'evil prevails if good men don't stand against it'.

I find it quite problematic to add a group as a whole, you can never know when you're talking about a group, i prefer a personal name...

Another problem with this is, once there is a good list going, nobody is going to want to trade with the new traders, they only ask the people on the list.

Actually, it is not a problem at all, thats a healthy trading system, new traders will just have to come up with more atractive trades in order to compinsate the safety part.

I would consider that an utter success :D

As for implementing this to the forum..I hope it does happen since once the list gets enough folks, it'll get harder for me.

I didn't witness it first-hand, but the other day while in a server with "global chat", a player named Jake, posing as a newer player convinced another noob to meet up with him so they could team up and share some loot. In actuality, Jake was waiting in a warehouse waiting to snipe the poor noob until a veteran stumbled upon him and realized his intentions.

Jake later admitted his intentions in chat and made it clear that he would hunt the noob down until he was dead.

I'm not entirely sure if this qualifies for the topic, but I wanted to spread the word in the chance it might do some good.
