Want to host a DayZ Server? Read in here.

The requirements right now as I understand them are 100mbps/100mbps. MOST dedicated boxes with start with this kind of bandwidth.

Um that would mean 35 TERABYTE a month, that cant possibly be right can it? I'm beginning to think the internet cant support Dayz! :)

My server of 40 (capped usually) runs at about 500-600 kbps (bursty). I'd guess the safe average is a consistant 500 kbps.

Is there a guide on how to set-up a Dayz server after you have been whitelisted?

There seems to be no simple to follow guide stickied.

Once you have been whitelisted a guide will be included in the welcome email.

Got the server up and running, however it stays on state "Waiting" and when you join it says "Wait for host". I have a feeling this is a CFG issue, any quick fixes?

Vilayer.com requested an instance ID for us on our server:

DayZ - Country# (1.7.2.3/95248) (Regular|3D:ON|CH:ON) dayzmod.com - Hosted by e-noobs.nl | Vilayer.com

Could you please process the request? We really would like to play!

Thanks,

Stam

Okay guys,

Some mates and me are interested in hosting a server because two of us have a root server. But there is one thing I really like to know...

Would the progress of the players be only safed on this server and would other people have to begin from zero at the coast or would this server interchange with the dayzservers?

By default all servers connect to the master server (HIVE) so all progress is saved. If you wanted you could use a private DB for less lag but characters wouldn't be linked.

So, there's no way to run your own public server without permission from the hive admins? And you need massive throughput and hand RDP access to them? That sucks. :( It wouldn't be so bad except I've had numerous issues with the admins of the public servers that I'd like to run my own.

Used to be the case with RDP but now you just fill in a signup form, but there's still the necessary bandwidth (though it's not as high as some would have you believe).

Yeah, but I'm sure I don't meet it. Unfortunate as I just wanted to run my own server for a few critical things (losing all my gear because an admin wants to abuse their power sucks). :\

Hi,

Is there any community support staff that is available to handle my ticket? Somebody was taking care of it saturday but haven't heard from him after his last request. I've done whatever was asked of me to do except for the nmap stuff. Not sure what was needed. Anyway, if any available support staff could check it please. Thanks. Ticket #931541

How long is the average time between applying for a instance ID and being accepted?

got this, this morning at 8 am CST/GMT-6

"Your server will be back up within 1-2 hours once again we are extremely sorry for the inconvvience to you and your players"

it is now noon my time, and 2 hours past the ETA, since sunday night we have had 27 hours of downtime. So percentage wise, in the past 3 days our server has been online for less than 70% of time. And we've been assured it wasn't going to happen again, it did, and given unrealistic ETAs, which weren't even close to being met.

Ticket responses are wildly unpredictable, taking anywhere from an hour to 2 days to get a response, and the responses are giving little information as to what it going on, and are largely apologetic. Not trying to make a post giving the host a hard time, just reporting my experience here. this week has been pretty bad.
