Maxgor 2314 Posted February 9, 2013 I'm not saying that at 18 someone magically becomes awesome or anything, its more about just wanting to play with a gamer who is relatively closer in age, especially in games that aren't considered kids games. At 26, I really don't want to play a game with a kid, no matter how good they are. I'll never know through regular text chat if they are a kid, but if they are on voice, that's one hell of a way to take you out of a game. No offense to anyone that is young like Inception, its cool they dig a game with depth like DayZ, but when your 25+ and you then start to play games with kids, you'll understand it a little more lol
Rage VG 4033 Posted February 9, 2013 Another issue I have with regards to this kinda thing is that it's all cool if you simply don't want to play with people much younger than you, simply just because, but when you make them suffer for it, that's an entirely different story. Again, not accusing anyone here of doing that, but it happens all too often in the gaming community in general.Like, they tell the other person to leave, or to not talk, et cetera. I feel if YOUR belief/morals/opinion affects others, it's upon YOUR shoulders to rectify it. Like, when I'm walking down some long-ass stairs, only for someone to tell me "Stop. Turn around and go back up, I'm superstitious." I'm like "Yeah, well I'm not, so get out of my way." I don't see why I nor anyone else has to go out of their way to satisfy someone else's choices for no reason.

You got a couple years on a 14 year old. 18 might not be a magical number, but you do have a few more years on you which can make a difference in how people interact with you. aussiestig 681 Posted February 9, 2013 Yeah your 17. You got a couple years on a 14 year old. 18 might not be a magical number, but you do have a few more years on you which can make a difference in how people interact with you.But I'm not an adult? The argument was that you'd prefer to play with an adult, rather than just a mature person. Apparently that's how all 25+ year olds think as well, but not in my experience. Ansssi 184 Posted February 9, 2013 Mature, preferably adults.

If your not obnoxious and your 16 to 18, your probably alright for the most part. I don't have a strict age requirement for gaming at all, but I still prefer to game with those who I at least have a better chance to relate with lolWell, I regularly play with people who are double my age+.And that's cool. If I don't know your age or can't really tell, its not gonna bother me much. I'm certainly not the person that would tell a kid to get off the game if they were on it, I'm not a dick about that kind of stuff, I actually hate people that act like that, I simply have a preference from what I expect out of mature rated video games. Sutinen 635 Posted February 9, 2013 Someone who is mature enough and understands that this is based on a military simulator. Then it's all good.

BwobBwub 660 Posted February 9, 2013 There should a maturity test before buying the game.
mr_chabowski@live.co.uk 2416 Posted February 9, 2013 To be fair, there are age restrictions on all forms of media, and they're there for a reason, but IMO anyone who believes they can judge the character of another person solely by their age bracket is lacking the same respect and maturity they're demanding from others.
Dayz Steve 26 Posted February 9, 2013 maturity is down to mental attitude and behaviour not age.
Luke Spencer 4 Posted February 9, 2013 I mean come on im 13 years old and i act mature. So i hate cod but i like battlefield i act fucking 21 bo. You say your mature, yet you still find it necessary to use "fucking" to say how mature you act....
Mr Mouse 61 Posted February 9, 2013 No age limit - everyone should have a mental maturity examination when purchasing games, to see if you're actually able to play the game properly.
son54 78 Posted February 9, 2013 I hope you guys don't actually expect all 25+ year olds to hate playing with kids just because you feel that way.In the planetside 2 outfit I am in, there are people from age 14 to people in their 40s from a huge variety of backgrounds like ex military. Nobody ever has a problem with age, infact a pretty popular squad leader is 14 and has a light voice, but much older guys like to come play in his squad. The very serious leader who streams every day created the "kony squad" and had all the 14 year olds play in his personal squad and on livestream for a few days and everyone thought it was brilliant.Stop cringing that everyone isn't as old as you or might not know or have experienced as much as you have. smore98 225 Posted February 9, 2013 As a 14 year old who has played with several throughout my DayZ career, I don't prefer answering to the question of what age is suitable for the use of this game. But from my point of view, I will respect those who have a sense of maturity and respect in their actions, whether it relies on their attitude or behavior, or their experience in-game, preferably the former.

Morotstomten 34 Posted February 9, 2013 i dont really care about age, ive met players that sounded like they were around 30yo that behaved worse than cod kids, you can hear 20+yo players on unoficial servers with sidechat bitching and whining over having been killed by someone else, making excuses for themselves and whatnot. but i do get annoyed by high pitched voices, mostly cause they all seem to have their microphone volume maxed out so a hair falling to the ground sounds like nuclear explosion to us. its simple, if you can behave you get to play, but dont interpret that as support for profanity filters or something like that, i hate those and you can be a douchebag without having to use foul language just like you can be a nice/decent person and use foul language. Dreams_Of_Cheese (DayZ) 71 Posted February 9, 2013 If your a 12 year old, cool. Play the game. I don't care.I do care, however, when you spam the side with "WHY DID YOU KILL ME" and "FRIENDLY FRIENDL- OW STOPIT" "ZOMBIES ARE OH-PEE"

Maca (DayZ) 769 Posted February 9, 2013 (edited) This is always a hard one to call, my own personal experience ingame when coming across younger players than me (I'm old) so everybodys younger than me (Maybe not everybody). "Some" teenagers can come across as very mature, but i've also found players in their twenties or even thirties acting like little kids in a playground. If the players from their teens up to the oldies can fully grasp the concept of the game and show some form of maturity i don't have any problem with how old they are..At the end of the day one should treat others as one would like others to treat oneself. (Golden Rule). Edited February 9, 2013 by Maca
OrLoK 16185 Posted February 9, 2013 it should only be folk who are 42 and a bit years old. increasing by one every August.L(tbh I don't mind who plays as long as they dot cheat/exploit/grief)
Cap'n (DayZ) 1827 Posted February 9, 2013 Well, you can see how the posts change after I edited the OP.... Well, lemme just throw in my two cents. Maturity plays a bigger part than anything else. I've met people here twice my age who are about as half as mature. The coolest guy I've ever talked to in game knew very little English, yet we still teamed up. He was only a year older than me. I still play with him to this day, even though he can be pretty hard to understand. I feel more comfortable playing with people my age, but not that many people my age actually play DayZ. But thats okay, because the closest thing to social interaction in this game is yelling "FRIENDLY!' at the top of your lungs into the mic.
Bribase 251 Posted February 9, 2013 I think that if you make a poll for your thread you ought to provide some properly thought out choices beyond Adult or mature. Adult is of variable ages in different countries and according to internet pornography "mature" is 40 and up. Why not just give us ages to choose from as our lowest?
