Military Helmet

Recommended Posts

Hi Ingot here,

Just thought why can't we wear helmets so I thought of military equipment. Oh, the military helmet helps against bullets and shrapnel.

So... would this be a good idea to introduce to Dayz... IMO yes, why you say? well grenades can hurt and everyone aims for the head (unless you have a bad aim) but there could be a % reduction for the helmet.

Example:

Without helmet you take lets say 500 blood damage.

With the helmet you take only 250 damage.

Simply system like that for a helmet would be perfect.

Oh, and you can customize the camouflage on it :)

Everyone aims for the head?

If I remember correctly, you're trained to aim for the center of mass, the largest spot to hit, so usually the chest. That's what I do atleast, and it works very well.

Rocket said there will be helmets.

IRL helmets aren't that effective at stopping military caliber bullets. Large rounds will still get through easily.

They aren't super effective but they are a lot better than nothing.

A modern military helmet could probably stop a 9x18 Makarov at 20 meters.

I highly doubt it could stop a 5.56x45 round at that range. I am not expert though.

Military helmets in real life are there only for the psychological effect to make soldiers feel safer as any sniper or assault rifle bullets (or even some handguns bullets too) comes throught them as knife throught butter.

But well it's video game so helmet as some force shield can go I guess, but It would be cool if hitbox of it covered only top of head and not face and neck.

I'm pretty sure it would save you from shrapnel or flying rubble, but if you're getting shot in the head, the best you're likely to get is a bullet AND bits of helmet stuck in your skull.

I wouldn't be surprised if the stuff armies use nowadays was designed to absorb some of the potential damage from concussive blasts too.

Doesn't matter if it's miltary or not...i don't think the helmet recognizes that or would it tell a bullet you can't pass because you are not an issued military round? Enough power and that thing either passes or gives the wearer a big headache regardless of caliber...

They can even stop bullets even if hit in a 90° angle, there is enough proof of that. But the wearer will still feel it.

I'm kinda summarizing the above posts, but the helmet could be like the camo clothing or hero skin, and stop some handgun bullets, also it could reduce the amount of time you are knocked out (say 20% or less, you can't make it too OP)

Wikipedia tells that PASGT helmet is rated level IIIA, meaning it stops pretty much all pistol rounds but not rifles.

Do a quick google/tube on tac helmets vs rounds. You wont feel as safe.

The can assist immensely but are not designed to take a direct round in general.

Congrats on being an ass. I. Clearly said I am no expert. If I am wrong, tell me in a way that doesn't make you look like an asshole. Then I will take you seriously.

I'm just wondering why people always say "military" caliber without knowing what that even means, every bullet can have an effect on anything. And if you lack information then look for it and stop offending people. I didn't even say anything personal on your post and you are the one beeing an ass here.

To add, Helmets may also protect well against Sub-sonic rounds and Silenced pistols. There's been a few times where I've been snuck up on while I've been looting and shot in the back of the head with a Silenced pistol

Your dwelling on one little word I added by mistake. Maybe you would be happy if I said military grade ammunition. I know there is a difference between .223 and 5.56x45 NATO. But chances are your some Internet expert and nothing I say is right.

Also saying" the helmet doesn't care if the bullet is military caliber or not. It's not like it says 'oh your military caliber so you can go through me' to the bullet" is kind of being an ass.

This is a pointless argument. Good day to you sir
